Visited on Friday evening on the way home from work. V quiet. Everything was, as expected, very tasty, but not hot. A bit disappointed this time.

Love their pizzas and always a nice portion of fish and chips.

A chippy is a chippy, it’s probably more important to Scotland’s culture than the annual Haggis Hunt or Glenmorangie whisky. It’s a type of food you are guaranteed to get anywhere in Britain but no one takes their chippies as seriously as Scotland. Seeing as more attention to detail should go in to finding a local chippy than finding a local pub, I have to say the Chip Inn falls rather flat for me. Every time I have been in to this chippy I have felt like I’m a burden to the staff that work here. Very little smiles from the staff and little to no interest in chatting which isn’t for lack of trying on my part. Good if you’re wanting a portion of chips to walk home with after work but as for service, very little is given.

after hearing a lot of good things about this place i took the chance and changed from my usual chippy and got a Chip Inn. BIGMISTAKE !!! Rotten dose not even begin to describe this place. Where to start. Pizzas. poor, base tastes like ketchup, cheese is rubbish. Baked potato. hard and tuna mayo filling looked and tasted like sick. Chips. greasy, stodgy, tasteless. Chicken pakora. tasted of fish(change your oil for gods sake). If i could give it 0 stars i would.POOR.VERYPOORCHIPPY.

I’ve been using this chip shop for over 5 years now. Staff are always friendly and welcoming and food is very good. Whenever you walk in, it’s always very busy but you don’t have to wait too long as there’s usually about 5 or 6 staff working at the same time. Food is always fresh and tastes good. I have a fast food restaurant less than a minutes walk away which I never use as you get a much better welcome and take away at the Chip Inn. It gets the full 5 stars for this.

The Chip Inn at Colinton Mains/Oxgangs is regularly very busy and this tells it’s own story. They offer the usual Chip Shop fare, including lovely fresh fish that I see being delivered every morning as I leave for work, and their home-made steak pie which is delicious. They also have a pizza section where they’ll make the pizza to your chosen size and flavour/toppings, as well as kebabs and baked potatoes. They also have a selection of groceries such as tea, coffee, cat and dog food, milk, toilet roll etc — ideal if you’re just nipped out to the chip shop and realised that you desperately need something else! The staff here are incredibly friendly, very hard working, and they usually move that Saturday night queue pretty quickly. Very, very clean and tidy shop.
