Cashmere probably isn’t the most ‘modern’ of fabrics, but it’s definitely true that you have to have a few bucks to buy anything decent made from it. I absolutely love the feeling of it, probably related back to my childhood where my Nan used to wear cashmere jumpers. That’s probably why I associate it with old ladies too!
The clothing in Belinda Robertson are sort of marketed towards a younger, trendier consumer, as well as selling a cuter than cute baby range. Belinda Robertson also sell the super expensive Black Cashmere, which can be made to order, and is 100% pure Scottish cashmere, the best of the best. A jacket will set you back almost £600 depending on the style you choose, and a simple stole around £400.
Probably the best retailer of cashmere in Edinburgh in my opinion, because it seems to cater for everyone, and doesn’t have that old fashioned feel about it.

Belinda Robertson is the queen of cashmere. She has however been affected by the credit crunch and I believe has closed her store in London, her Edinburgh store however remains open still. Its a lovely store in Dundas Street. You have to go up a few steps into the store and inside the décor is lovely. The clothing is hung on rails so it isnt easy to see the various styles. There is a limited number of styles and sizes. The jumpers are lovely and soft and the colours are really nice. She has a more affordable range and also a more luxourious and more expensive range. There are two small changing rooms in the shop. If you buy the items are packed in box and then in a lovely big bag so you feel it adds to the whole shopping experience

Famous for her cashmere with a modern twist. Although much is expensive as you would expect cashmere to be, she also does some less expensive cashmere mix ranges. The colours are gorgeous and the designs are often modern and unusual. A few times a year she holds show room sales and if you get on her mailing list they will notify you of these events.
