Hobbs is my favourite store in Edinburgh. The shop itself is a pleasure to be in and the staff are always friendly and helpful. The clothes, admittedly, are not cheap but are usually well made. Particularly good are their classic coats which last for as long as you want them to. I have one or two that I bought years ago and still look great. Trench coats too are well tailored. But their long boots are fantastic and if you take care of them will last through several winters.

With the wife having spent over £1500 in the Edinburgh Hobbs shop in the last month, I can safely the purchasing experience is excellent. The returning experience is, however absolutly, without doubt, shocking. I returned 2 items today for the wife, and was made to stand and watch for 15 minutes whilst the assistant, and manager both tried a d-fuzz-it comb, to try and show there was no problem. A £40 top, after a couple of weeks should not go bobbly, and ofering me seat when I complained about you doing this … you really don’t get the customer service thing do you? Unless theres a sale in it though eh? Following this they then said the pulling on the other top was«a grey area» as it might not be the fault of the fabric. This was the manager and an assistant remember. I really don’t care if you can get the bobbles off and by saying it’s a grey area you’ve as good as admitted liability. But I still had to get stroppy and start raising my voice before they finally relented and offered a credit note, obviously as there were other potential customers in the shop they did not want to lose business. So my advice, enjoy the shoppng experience, but I really hope you don’t need to return anything.

Went in recently, found the staff a bit superior. The shop is nice but in my opinion overpriced. Didn’t buy anything, went to Coast instead! Bought something there!

Hobbs is the height of sophisticated fashion and seems aimed at those lucky women who always look smart and effortlessly stylish with trouser suits, tailored trousers and flowing dresses. Although I can appreciate Hobbs, it isn’t really my style and the prices aren’t really aimed at a student budget. Hobbs is aimed at the business woman who always looks trendy and is usually very mature. My pet hate is seeing women wearing man suits and my old boss used to wear them all the time… she was a dragon by nature and the suit just made her come across like the Incredible Hulk, minus the green skin. Hobbs always have very feminine, well tailored suits that are very flattering. Hobbs is very feminine with the prints, the cuts and the style and definitely worth a look if you’re looking for something formal yet you can wear it everyday.

Hobbs is one of my favourite clothes stores in Edinburgh. They only sell womenswear and have clothing, shoes and accessories. The shop is in one of George Streets old buildings and is tastefully decorated with clothing well spaced out on rails and tables. There is a big sofa in the middle for men to sit and browse the magazines whilst the women shop which is a nice touch. The staff are really helpful and offer good advice. The only drawback is there is no mirrors inside the fitting rooms and you have to come out to look in the big mirror. I love their smart casual clothing and their beautiful dresses. I also have a weakness for their shoes and boots which although expensive last for years.

Hobbs is a reliable(though not inexpensive) shop for smart work or evening clothing and some more casual ranges too. The clothes are always presented in coordination colour ranges in very wearable styles. They are particularly well known for their range of shoes and especially for their winter boots. Their coats are also often particularly nicely designed.
