Alfie’s Place Bistro

i ate here at the end of last year and contrary to the other reviews we did not enjoy the experience. There were customer conmments on the windows outside! and the feeling of self promotion is over whelming — let the food and service speak for its self? Staff were Ok but looked bored and not really briefed on the menu they didn’t know where the lobster came from and jokingly said the sea… The lobster dish that my wife had was tough chewy flavourless and boring. You got the feeling that they were trying too hard and just didn’t have the skills or knowledge to deliver. The sea bass was overcooked and very bland. Alfies Will find it very hard to survive with so many good restaurants around it — a great tapas bar round the corner, Café Fish a recent addition to the area is excellent, and the plumed horse and the Kitchen both michelin starred are up there too
