This is one of the two local weatherspoons in town that I am aware of. It is your typical weatherspoons with the low quality food, very reasonably priced drinks, spacious and a good number of booths, chairs and tables but not too crowded that you can’t sit and have a good chat with your group. I have never eaten here so cannot personally comment on that, the group I have come with have eaten here and there was nothing to write home about. Apparently my favourite late night take out did better food then here and it was cheaper so go figure. The alcohol selection is what you would get in every weatherspoons. The one thing I love about this place is the architecture as it used to be a bank, so there is a bit of history to this building, it is historic, the architecture is traditional, classic and old fashioned. It is surprisingly bright. This weatherspoons is located in Iron Gate which has a fair few historic buildings and I love the architecture of each and every one of them. This is a great pub to watch the sports in and all the regulars are really enthusiastic about sporting events. If passing by I would say pop in have a drink and admire the architecture.

The pinnacle of a British pub. Cheap beer, good beer, cheap food, books to read, clean toilets

While on holidays, I visited this pub. It is quite big, which makes it easy for larger parties to be seated together. The food served is good and the variety of different types of beer is very impressive. All in all I had a pleasant time. 4 stars because it can feel too big at times, with too many people and the homely pub atmosphere is lost. The Standing Order also belongs to the Wetherspoon’s Group, which means, that the food is nothing really new and quite standard.

Bit of a drinking barn, but with some attractive features here and in fact also there. Oldershone, Sunny Daze, 4.0pc a nice beer. Oddly it is situated next door to a Lloyds No 1

We’ll start with the pros. The Standing Order is a classic watering hole favoured by all walks of life, chiefly because like all Wetherspoon’s pubs there is a large selection of drinks at bargain prices. Many a debauched night out in Derby has started out in this former bank, which you would think would be too impressive to be a Wetherspoon’s if that makes any sense. There are a couple of quiz machines which are always good fun, plenty of superb real ale and lagers and frequently cleaned toilets. However, these plus points are sadly made somewhat redundant when you consider how it rates in fundamental pub terms. The staff aren’t especially friendly or committed to enhancing a true pub experience, but that’s Wetherspoon’s for you. The walls are adorned with interesting historical titbits, yet more noticeable is the smell of vinegar, stale ale and that indescribable whiff of despair. Clean tables are the exception in The Standing Order, not the rule. Mind you, given that it’s essentially a haven for aging alcoholics and care in the community cases to have a drink, that’s to be expected. All in all The Order is essentially a place for the more frugal Derby drinker to start his or her night, but if you want to drink ale that’s as cheap as chips and snigger at unfortunate booze sodden eccentrics, you might as well go the whole hog and trek over town to the Babington Arms.

Have been there as a tourist. The location is quite nice, with sweet little details. Had fish and chips, which were okay. All in all a nice place to drink and just meet some friends or whatever. Ah, and by the way, they have a huge offer of beer there, which is quite pleasing! 4 stars due to unfriendly staff.

The best JD Wetherspoon pub I’ve seen to date, primarily because of the size of the place. Located inside an old bank, the tables are centred around an ‘Island’ style bar with a surprisingly good selection of beers. Food is the usual defrosted and reheated burger and chips affair that we’ve come to expect from Wetherspoons. Very tolerable to soak up your beer, but not exactly fine dining. The main bonus of this place is the atmosphere — it’s quite possible to have a lengthy conversation in a normal voice, which makes a nice change from the plethora of chain pubs on the high street that insist on constantly trying to deafen us with poor quality music cranked up to the loudest volume. The only real downside is the number of undesirable characters attracted by the low prices.

I can’t fault this Wetherspoons chain at all really. It is one of the best pubs in Derby city for real ales. They usually have around 8 varieties on tap, and last time I was there all real ales were £1.69 a pint, this is unbeatable. The food is good with lots of deals which combine a meal and a drink. Only downside are the amount of dodgy blokes that the cheap drinks tend to attract.

A very nice Wetherspoons pub. The building was originally an old-fashioned bank, and looks very impressive inside. Here you can get a wide selection of bar meals at quite decent prices.

The standing order in derby is located in the cathedral quater of derby city centre. The pub is run by well known pub chain wetherspoon, and you will still find all of the bargains wetherspoon have to offer inside. The standing order is large, with plenty of seaing, some areas seem quiet smelly at times, however theres plenty of other areas to sit so this is genrally not a problem. As with most wetherspoons ive been to the toilets are located upstairs for gentlemen, and downstairs for women. Overall its a great pub with some atmosphere.

This very large pub is a great place to start your night, with its good location in the centre of Derby on Iron Gate. The converted bank has a huge open area with the bar in the middle and an eating area towards the back. Being a Wetherspoons pub you can guarantee cheap food and drinks. Has a huge choice of beers and speciality ales. Food is isn’t anything special but as it is so reasonably priced, it’s still worth it. It’s a good place to go for lunch in the afternoon with your family, but can get very busy in the evenings, especially the weekend.

This pub is in a lovely old bank, and the architectural features are beautiful. Wetherspoons have complimented this with a nice old-timey design, however time has took it’s toll on the soft furnishings and everything looks very tired and dull. It’s a good pub for the standard Wetherspoons cheap drinks, however the good is worse than most Wetherspoons I’ve been to and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. The pub can get very busy at the weekend, and if a popular and servicable way to start a night out. However, I wouldn’t suggest it for anything else than a cheap start to a nightjust remember to look at the beautiful ceiling!

A usual weatherspoons really. A nice building though. Used to be a bank apparently. I have also heard stories about the toilets being haunted. The food is fine although the wait on food can sometimes be quite lengthy.

This huge converted bank is a great place for food and drink. Being a Wetherspoon pub you know you are getting value for money. Despite the huge size, it can still get very busy where you will be struggling just to get to the bar, nevermind finding your friends. With table and chairs at the back which forms part of the restaurant, this is a good place to go for food on a Saturday afternoon. This pub is also greatly improved due to the smoking ban if you are a non-smoker as it used to get very smokey inside. Has a very good range of beers and some guest ales.

The Standing Order is located in Derby City Centre. This pub is a great pub to start the night off! Weatherspoons as it is commonly known is known for its cheap drinks and you can’t get many cheaper than this place! There is one big bar in the middle and service all the way round the square. The service can be fairly poor at times however and it may take a while to get served at peak times. The food they offer is ok and fairly priced. It is nice as a lunch meal but I wouldn’t go there for a main meal.

The Standing Order is fantastic for free drinks & provides students and the rest of us with a friendly atmosphere to drink in. The food selection is reasonable and you get a lot for your money. It is located around various other bars, pubs and restuarants in Derby meaning you have plenty to chose from in a small area. The building is historic(an old bank I believe) & it retains its uniqueness with booths & old books(anyone who has been in here will know what I mean!). The bar is located in the centre of the building, meaning there are four ‘sides’. Due to cheap drinks, the bar is always crowded meaning sometimes it is hard to get served. I see this as the only negative to the place!

Handy location to start a night out in derby, typical of any weatherspoons, prices of drinks are very good and have a great range for anyone over 18. ID is required as door staff and bar staff are vigilent on underage. lots of offers on food as well which is very useful, the food is alright not top class but decent enough for the price, the place has lots of booths to allow a bit more cosyness between you and your group of friends, all ages over 18 are more than welcome all though sometimes weekends can be very focused on locals, this also means that it can be extremely busy at the bar to get served. but all in all the staff are polite enough and the place is kept tidy enough
