As a California girl living in London, I had to get used to overpaying for certain types of cuisines that are, by contrast, prevalent and cheap in the States. Cue, Miso Noodle Bar. It’s kinda pricey for what it is. But at least the quality makes it worth it. I initially got hooked on their seafood noodle soup but their chilli men and coconut butter prawns are hella good too. There are two locations in Croydon: One near the East Croydon station and this location, on High Street. The High Street location is the one that sell dumplings — the other does not. For someone like me who loooves the hell out of some dumplings, this was my go-to location for some shrimp and chive dumplings. Free wifi. Good service. Lots of seating. They also deliver.

Great food at value prices as you’d expect from any Misos. Very quiet at lunchtime, but plays Britney Spears album on repeat for hours :(

Like the other Misos this place offers you huge portions at reasonable prices. I’ve been to this one once and have to say I prefer the service at the other one in Croydon mainly because the staff didn’t seem to have a very good grasp of English when we tried to order some takeaway duck and meals to eat in and they seemed unwilling to deviate from what was available on the menu. We sort of got what we wanted in the end but it was after a very long discussion. Perhaps there’s a reason why the other branch(which I’ve also reviewed) is more busy than this one. The service here was quick, though, and it’s nice to be able to get Ho Fun outside of Chinatown.

The quieter of the two Croydon Miso Noodle Bars(the other one is up closer to East Croydon rail station) and a better location if you’re on your own for lunch and don’t want to feel guilty about taking up a table to yourself. As per the other location, there’s a good selection of Asian food — noodles, rice dishes, dumplings, &c. Portions are massive so only order a starter in addition to your main if you’re confident you’ll get away with sleeping for the rest of the working day. Service at this branch is marginally speedier than the other location, and it does seem that your food is hotter when you get it. Recommended: the Singapore fried noodles are nicely curried and spiced. The Pad Thai noodles are a good second choice.
