Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar and Grill Bristol

I went here a few months ago with my parents to celebrate moving into our new house. We were really excited to try out something that Marco had put his name to. Knowing it was in a hotel we didn’t have the highest expectations of an opulent entrance etc.
Expectations were met, wasn’t great. It was all a bit dark and gloomy in the restaurant and had a few large parties in there which impeded on the atmosphere for us. The food was ok, I shared a chateaubriand with my mum which was surprisingly over done. I would’ve expected this to come out near rare. Side dishes were lacklustre and service was nothing to rave about.
I will go back and hope things have changed. But I wouldn’t rave about it right now — await the re-​review!

Went here with my partner for a nice romantic meal as heard it was really good. Were staying next door in the hotel so we were really looking forward to it after spending the afternoon in the hotel spa…
First impressions from outside looks really nice and the bar area and décor is modern and really good quality so hoping the food was up to standard going with their really high prices. The resturant had no atmosphere at all. They had no background music and you could hear other peoples conversations and felt as if you had to talk quietly. Then to be told they were out of the fillet steak which was what we were really looking forward to. Being a steakhouse they shouldn’t really run out of the most popular dish. Went for Serloin which was nice but wasnt the fillet i was wanting :(
We had staters and dessert aswell but the prices just didnt match the food. It felt like we were paying for the name ‘marco Pierre’ rather than the quality! And then they add a service charge aswell, wine on top too and you got yourself an expensive night out! Id recommend this place as nice but too expensive for what it is.

Got the T-​Bone Steak. Was very good. Ordered it medium and received it medium rare but that is acceptable for me. Came with Excellent steak cut fries and onion rings. Had a Seasonal Berry Sorbet to finish which was also very good.

The restaurant does not have any atmosphere, its a large room with some tables chucked in. Food is good but not what you would expect for the price, I would expect a restaurant of this supposed standard to be able cook better food than I can produce myself.
The service is however very good and all the staff do make a good impression. Although an automatic 10 percent added to the bill very cheeky in my opinion. But saying that still would have left that amount but very rude to assume. £250 for 4 with wine and drinks. (Not everyone had 3 course though so could have been a lot more)
Would not make an effort to go again.

We have been here several time and always a good night. Recently I have read some reviews that were not so great but this is not our experience and the service has been consistantly good. Marco took over this hotel’s restaurant and transformed it into the best steak house in the area. You need to book well ahead to get a table and i would recommend booking a table for after the fireworks in November, really a night to remember. Prices reflect the quality with Marco’s name on the door but they are only slightly more than I would have expected from this hotel before the makeover. A meal for 2 would be about £70−100 but it is for special occasions. Polite and knowledgable staff, able to give insight to the dishes on offer. Dress code is smart casual. Keep an eye out for all the original newspaper cartoons, it’ll take you ages to get to and from the loo A lovely, if a little dark, restaurant and enjoyable night. Get dressed up and go eat.
