Really pleasant place to come to; comfortable, with cosy spaces and a nice two-way fire. Large selection of drinks. However, I really didn’t like my fish finger sandwich: the granary bread was lovely, but the fish fingers had thick, baked coats and slimy skin on one side, which I attempted to remove to no avail. The fish itself was also quite strong. The staff were friendly and my partner’s chicken and slaw sandwich was good.

Amazing! Some of the best Service and food we have had anywhere, ever!
The staff are so friendly from the moment you walk through the door. It is very nicely decorated with lovely touches such as cushions, pictures water glasses on the tables etc etc.
We have now been there twice and have tried other places near by and wished we hadn’t bothered, (yes, we are fussy!)
The music is mellow and just loud enough so that you can hear it but not too loud. The décor is modern but not in your face. The food is delicious and just the right sized portions. The after dinner hot drinks come with a small glass of smarties which is a lovely touch.
I cannot praise The George at Backwell enough and thank you to the staff for making our first two visits so lovely.

Not sure which George pub the other reviewer was talking about, as this one is in BACKWELL! Update good ale and decent food too. Always seems busy, which must be a good sign!
