The idyllic canal side location of this pub attracted us as soon as we saw it. We were looking for lunch after a big night out the night before, so their just serving the fairly common Hobgoblin meant that I was not tempted to go for a hair of the dog, not even the blinking lights on the pump clip could seduce me. There are a couple more pumps unused on this particular Friday lunchtime so maybe they serve some more beer sometimes? We shared a tasty soup for starter, the richness of which meant I could already feel that I was filling up even before my big chilli cheese burger arrived. I somehow still managed it though. It was pretty darn good and the chips that came with it were as like fish and chip shop chips as any I have encountered in a pub before. Service was excellent. The girl who served us was helpful, friendly and attentive.
