Great place to stop into for lunch. Quite small, so its packed on busy or sunny days. Prices are decent and service is good. Would recommend.

All in the name of bringing you exciting and interesting new reviews I set off to far away lands to… Carrickfergus(Sorry if it’s a let down!) but all in the name of Unilocal I go to see what’s happening on the streets of the town. Well, seeing as when we arrived it was lashing down(surprise, surprise!) we decided to shelter in the inviting SoZo. I’ve been here before and I’ve never had anything bad to say about the place but I thought for research purposes I should check it is still in good repute. I wasn’t let down dear reader, and I urge you to go. Myself plus three and a half friends(one two year old!) sat down in the small but cosy restaurant. Bambino was quickly sorted with a high chair and we were served quickly by our pleasant waitress. We ordered coke, coffee, orange(x2) and water. For our meals we had; fish & chips, a chicken tikka toastie, Caesar salad and a maple, bacon, brie and cranberry ciabatta with garlic sautee potatoes. The food was all delish and pleasantly reasonably priced. Plus, I love when restaurants go that extra mile to make you visit that little more special, I loved the tiny wee cups/mugs they used for sauces and my salad came on a wooden board with special parts for the cheese, bowl etc. I know it’s sad, I can’t help it! Bonus points to the waitress who gave the wee one a few strawberries at the end of her meal for dessert and played about with her. I will definitely be back here, lovely restaurant, lovely staff and great prices(our four meals came to £25!) Worth visiting, even if it is in Carrick!

Quite a nice, upmarket little café that stays open late enough for dinner. Locally owned, Sozo has been part of the scene in Carrick for around 7 years now, and has made a welcome addition to the town centre. They do Sandwiches, soups, burgers, chips, chicken dishes etc. The menu is small, but well made and presented, and more than enough to cater for individuals of all tastes. They also have an ample sweet selection, all presented at the till, such as huge Chocolate Cakes and Cheese Cakes. The restaurant is also BYOB — so you can keep the tab down by bringing your own alcohol to enjoy with your meal, always a popular choice for those looking to get a good meal on a budget. A word of advice — the restaurant is very small, so if you plan to go for dinner, be sure to book ahead to avoid disappointment.

If you’re in carrick for lunch then passing this place would surely be a travesty. The food in here is really great and as Nick mentioned, they have chocolate cakes! yum. The menu is actually pretty cool, offering dishes such as sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and some lovely Asian dishes! Soup and a sandwich is one of my favourite lunches and they certainly don’t disappoint here. You also won’t be out of pocket either! The restaurant is really contemporary and cool with service that would make you come back again and against again!

Sozo is definately one of the hidden secrets of Carrick. A very small restaurant which goes beyond the«Ulster Fries» of most other Carrick Restaurants. Whilst the menu is not big there is enough variety to cater for even the fussiest of people. The restaurant is small and could really use being about twice the size it is but they make the best of what they have got and I just pity the poor chefs that have to work in the tiny kitchen. all in all probably the best restaurant in carrick and well worth a return trip(or two)

Nice little independant café in Carrick, suitable for whether you just want to grab a coffee or a full dinner. Can sit in, or take away. Menu is v. wide, and reasonably priced. You can get anything from a traditional fry-up, to Asian inspired prawn dishes. I’ve always thought the home made soups(usually a choice of 2 each day) are particularly lovely. One complaint would be the lack of homemade traybakes/pastries, especially when this place is sharing a street with 2 bakeries!

Sozo, definitely not so so, this place is a serious good spot for lunch(and probably great at other times too!!!) and as I work nearby, it’s a must at least once a week. A decently varietal menu is offered with a international floavour to the dishes offered. This little Bistro provides some very tasty food and service with asmile to boot. Prices have been pitched just about right for the lunchtime trade, most mains being in or around the £5 or £6 pound mark which is not too bad for the standard of what is provided. I rate it good value!
