A professionally snap-happy pal drew my attention to this ace photographers gallery in Cardiff Bay. Run by the lovely photographers Joni Karanka and Maciej Dakowicz, the gallery opened in February and has hosted a series of top dollar, quality shows ever since. The current surreal show is strangelands, which may be what possessed me to read Strangeland by Tracey Emin this month. It runs until 3 October and features a collaborative effort by the international photography collective that aims to ‘meld geographically distinct images into one sweeping and dreamlike landscape.’ It succeeds. Participating photographers: Alex JD Smith Anne Johnstone Ariane Schrack Ben Anderson Bryan Formhals Chris Norris Darrius Thompson David Wilson Greg Flanders James Turnley Jared Iorio Jeff Hammond John Goldsmith Julien Boast Kramer O’Neill Luca de Marchi Michael Dennington Naveen Jamal Oscar Juarez Paul Brunner Rafa Alcacer The show selection was curated by James Turnley. Personally I’m looking forward to the following exhibition: Street Photography Now which opens on Sat 9 November.
