Nomu

What do you think of Japanese cuisine, sushi, sashimi or nigiri? Nomu offers more than that. As my regards, it specialises in local Japanese dishes and street food. When you get rid of the stereotype of Japanese food such as sushi and sashimi, the restaurant gives you an opportunity to taste differently and authentically. The best thing is that you can enjoy them with reasonable price in Bristol, in the UK!

Nomu is one of those gems that you find, love, and really REALLY want to succeed, so tell everyone you know about.
It’s a great venue, very trendy décor, and suits a multitude of purposes; whether you are looking for a sit down feast at a table, a casual lounge around a coffee table sharing a few small plates, or a quick sit on a stool for drinks and nibbles.
The sushi and small plates are really good, and come in very generous portions.
The ‘main menu’ is equally tasty, and offers a good selection of noodles, rice dishes, and salads. It’s not really fair to call the salads ‘salads’, as they are so much MORE than that.
If you are anything like me, you will want to try it all first time, and then end up covering your table with plates to share. (And then realise you like them all, and then have to order just as much every time you return)
Reccomendations are:
— Pork Gyosa (Enormous! You will feel robbed the next time you have gyosa at Yo!)
— Dynamite Rolls (Final meal on earth worthy)
— Edamame (tender and well seasoned)
— Tempura Prawn Temaki
The next time I go I have sworn to myself that I will leave room for the Green Tea Panna Cotta — I have wanted to try that for so long, but it’s just to hard to stop eating!
There is always a deal to be had, whether it is a cocktail and small plate for £8, or three small plates for £13, or a small plate and main for £10.
Even without the deals, I think this place offers really excellent value for money.
The cocktails are really delicious, and the cocktail waiter is really knowledgable — it’s always worth getting a recommendation from him as the impressive drinks menu takes quite a while to digest.
Try the Zen Garden Martini and the Lychee Martini — very nice indeed.
They will also make you an alcoholic bubble tea for you too, if you ask!
If you get board waiting in the endless bar line ‘Flipside’ (formerly Papajis) come here, you won’t regret it!!!
Oh and finally — My sister hired Nomu for her 30^th birthday, and it was just perfect. The intimate venue was about perfect for 30 – 40 guests, and everyone really enjoyed the chilled out and cool atmosphere, and if couse the buffet food. They prepared a selection of the small eats, which went down very well. So well infact that we had to ask the kitchen to make more! (They didn’t scrimp in the portions — the family just really like their food…)

Service was amazing, the waiter and waitress were very attentive (: we ordered 2 mains and a lot of sushi plates. The dynamite rolls, crispy duck futomaki and duck udon is recommended! I also had the spicy tofu fries which even though was deep fried tasted amazing! Haha, ironic though how they made smth so healthy become so unhealthy: P
Nonetheless, this place has tons of deals and I only got a 50% off deal from table pouncer which made it really worth it!
Definitely VALUE FOR MONEY
