Café refectoire is part of St James priory(the oldest building in Bristol) and was opened when the church was refurbished, the café is also a charity and profit goes into the charitable work of the priory as well as ongoing maintenance of the building. It is set over 2 levels and they serve sandwiches, toasties, wraps, jacket potatoes, cakes and a wide selection of tea, coffees and cakes — the chef makes a daily soup and a daily special, I have had lasagne, Thai curry, chicken skewers to name a few and all have been fantastic. All food is available to eat in or take away, it’s nothing special really but it does what it does well and it feels good to be giving money to a charity as opposed to a big chain like greggs just across the way
