Eeeek — the clothes smell, are over priced for what you get and there isn’t much of a return policy unless you’re willing to beg and plead… returns are kind of essential when buying retro clothing in my honest opinion… you never know the quality of the build until you’ve worn it for an hour or two! Shame actually — the shop is great in theory but lacks something in the reality!

One of Brighton’s best vintage stores — with that precarious balance of a disarrary of musty, old, mostly undesirable items(to most people’s eyes), but with the odd bargain that he or she who perseveres will discover. There’s plenty of junk to be sure, and the ramshackle environment is most definitely not for everyone, but if you’re a true bargain hunter then go when you’re in a calm patient mood and you’ll not be disappointed!

This is vintage shopping at its most authentic. Tucked away location, a garish 60s inspired façade and inside… a ramshackled and musty rabbits warren! Just the way we like it! No-one is making it easy for you here– no sir! You will quite literally have to excavate your items of choice. I have never seen so many skirts, shirts, dresses, shoes and coats packed into such a narrow and ostensibly uninviting space. I say ‘uninviting’, I feel positively gleeful about the cramped and cavernous conditions, but it’s an experience you have to in the mood for. If you don’t have the energy or you’re feeling a bit sniffly, come back another day. The rails of musty clothing here require time and dedication. The shoes are definitely worth a look, although as per usual I seem to spend a great deal of time cursing the petite little feet of the ladies of the olden days! They sometimes have weird and wonderful hats too…

If you’ve walked down Sidney Street in the North Laines, you’ve probably seen the bright red, To Be Worn again store, complete with floral decoration. As I said in my review, this is a pretty cool place where you can find lots of vintage goodies. What you may not know however, is that less than five minutes walk from the Sidney Street store is another To Be Worn Again. WHAT?! I know right! If you already know about this place, then stop reading and go be a spoiled sport somewhere else. If you don’t know about this place and are even vaguely excited/intrigued then please, keep reading… So this is what I would call a «true» vintage store. This is because there is no real order and there is a LOT of crap to wade through before you find something you might like. If everything is cool, the fun is taken away: I prefer a bit of crap digging. You go up a narrow staircase, through a curtain and into a room full of clothes. Then there is like, this other room with more clothes and shoes and bags and junk. While you walk around you feel as if the floor might cave in at any moment, but this just adds to the thrill of vintage shopping and I likes it! Go check it out!
