We went there for after work drinks this week and the guest wine menu was good! The food is great as well.

For vegetarians: it is a very cosy and nice vegetarian pub. Do I need to say more? I was disappointed with the Sunday roast, but the rest of the menu is quite nice.

Loved this! We both had the ginger beer battered halloumi with chips, mushy peas and tartar sauce. I probably could have eaten two portions despite the sizes being really decent– the meal was just super good! Really nice vibe in the pub too. quite cosy. The guys in the kitchen were playing really good music too. The ale sucked but luckily I stuck with a corona anyway. :) Will definitely be back.

I do love the Prince George. I like that it has wooden floors(less spilled drink smell), that it’s roomy, that it generally has a good selection of drinks. But what I like most is the menu. I’ve had some truly great meals here, and the portions are generous and the prices reasonable. It is, as others have mentioned, a vegetarian pub but I don’t feel that meat eaters would find it lacking because the menu generally has things you’d expect to be vegetarian already(nachos, omelettes, falafel) rather than vegetarian versions of meat things. Fortunately and unfortunately, the menu changes seasonally. It does mean you never get bored, but sometimes that thing you loved dissappears and you don’t know if it will ever be back. RIP best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever had, you will be missed.

I’d never particularly ventured in here before I came in with my creative writing peers, after my course last night. Why didn’t I start coming here sooner?! It was such a nice relaxed, chilled place, and we got a table big enough for the 10 of us instantly :). I knew it serves veggie food, and it’s supposed to be very good, I’m a massive meat fan but I may have to give it a go… They have aspall on tap and other bottled ciders for you gurt lush’s out there, not a great selection of beers — well none particularly to my taste anyway. A fair few different wines on the list… Cute little beer garden for ze smokers. Defo gonna become my Monday eve hotspot!

After a rainy day of walking around Hove and Brighton I came upon this pub. and was very much surprised to see the 100% vegetarian menu. I didn’t think it would exist in England, but I have been surprised and fell in love. We ordered the Hallumi & Chips, and Mexican Burrito and some pints of local ale. Cozy place with a patio in the back with lots of people here.

Lovely pub — friendly and responsive staff — good selection of ales, lagers etc The veggie food is excellent — Large satisfying dishes for veggies and meat eaters a like. Burrito and falafel burger both amazing. Looks like they have had a fairly recent re-furb. The layout is more open than I remember and the pub is much better for it. Well worth a visit or three!

The George came highly recommended by a friend who’d lived in Brighton and we’d looked forward to going. But I guess times have changed or the staff had gotten out on the wrong side of bed that morning. So despite the tempting menu, we went and had dinner elsewhere.

The George is a delightful pub that offers fantastic vegetarian food in a gastropub style, all within a charming and vibrant North Lanes location. The menu is comprised of a number of global dishes, offering things like enchiladas, burgers and pizza. If you’re not interested in coming here for a meal however, then this is a good place to drink. You can regularly get drink offers on spirits and wines. Having come here once as part of a large group for my birthday, we even got given a round of free shots in exchange for staying for an extra drink. Having recently undergone new management however, I couldn’t guarantee you’d be so lucky.

The George is a well established veggie Mecca in Brighton. Known for it’s no nonsense vegetarian food and good atmosphere. The pub is always lively and great whether you are coming along for a meal or drink to enjoy a pint. They will usually be playing a good mix of contemporary and classic tunes and the staff are very friendly. The place has received a lot of praise for the food and with good reason. Their Mexican dishes are particularly good and you get a generous plate for your pennies. The garden out back is pretty spacious and a nice place to spend a summers evening. All in all the George should be a regular stop for any veggies and carnivores alike.

I’m not a veggie but have eaten a fellafel or two in here. Its got a really nice décor inside and is perfect for large groups. We usually pop there for a few pints and just order some of their lovely olives and dipping oils. There’s a small area to sit outside and have a smoke. The staff are really cool and the music policy is fantastic — nice and varied. You do tend to get quite a few young Brighton ‘professionals’ with their babies strapped to their bodies by some expensive paternal lasso but don’t let them put you off.

A large pub with many rooms and dividing walls all with ample seating. But you’d be hard pushed to get one of those seats in the busier evenings. If you’re here for food then you’ve no doubt heard that this is a vegetarian pub, which doesn’t extend to some drinks(I hear Grolsch is the only veggie beer). Although the food is different from the standardised pub menu and the veggie aspect suggest a healthier and more diverse choice, which isn’t delivered. Being a vegetarian myself and haven eaten here, I wouldn’t rate the food too highly. It’s admirable to provide such a service but I don’t think they have it quite right. Don’t let that deter you from trying it though, it’s a great pub for a drink and full of hustle and bustle.

I love that this bar serves only veggie food — it’s a pity there is not more competition in the vicinity as the food is no more than average. It’s a friendly place though — the staff helpful and service usually with a smile. There is a tiny outdoor area out the back where you can smoke. It’s just a good old fashioned pub really, with a chatty buzz.

The George is unusual in being a vegetarian pub, but it is much more than that, also being a lovely, friendly pub for a few drinks as well as for food. It’s a sizeable place, fairly sparsely decorated but with a warm and cosy feel. Walking past the bar, there is a futher seating area and out at the back, a little garden with fairy lights and a couple of tables(it’s a shame it’s not bigger, as getting out to go to the loo can be a challenge when it’s busy!). When I last visited, it had one frighteningly rickety table, which nearly toppled over when we went to put our drinks on it, so watch out! Shamefully, I have to admit I’ve never tried the food, but it always looks good, with sizeable portions.

I enjoy a good vegetarian pub. Although not a vegetarian, I think vegetarian food is often more interesting; more inventive. And vegetarian pubs are few and far between, even in fair Brighton… Sadly, I’m not sure the George has quite cracked it… the dishes sound good, and in fairness the nachos I had there recently were quite tasty, but nachos are hardly the height of veggie culinary cuisine, are they? What’s weird about this place is that they always seem to run out of stuff! I just don’t get it. I am REALLY not a fan of being told that there is an ingredient missing as my food is delivered to me… at least have the decency to inform me in good time, so that I can change my order! If I order a burger that involves cheese, please include the cheese! Although I probably won’t eat at the George again in a hurry, I would go for drinks– the staff are friendly and they have a lovely little garden with flower adorned trellises. It is a pub perhaps best saved for after-dinner drinks.

I can’t quite forgive The George for once serving me pieces of melted plastic in a warm salad. I know it was a mistake and both the waitress and chef apologized humbly but it kind of put me off eating there again! It’s a shame because The George is a cracking little pub with a sweet beer garden and a warm and homely atmosphere. Up until the plastic incident I used to go on a regular basis and sampled everything from the hallumi salad to the roast dinner. The staff were always laidback, the atmosphere was bustling and the portions were filling. I’d still go there for a drink but I don’t think I could put one of their forks back in my mouth. :-)

The George is a fantastic pub! And a vegetarian pub! Thank you for for choosing the path less traveled by! The pub is large, creaky and comfortable with large well-loved oak tables, several large rooms and fireplaces. The bar staff can be a little slow but are pretty friendly and the choice of beers and ales is decent with usually a good Harvey’s and a guest beer/ale/cider. The food is really the draw for me– their veggie sausage and mash is excellent– tasty sizeable sausages, delicious smooth mash, plenty of tasty onion gravy. Yum. They also do a great veggie enchilada with lashings of sour cream and guacamole. All for around £6. I sometimes go for the Monday quizz and a nice dinner.

I love The George because: — It’s right near the train station, handy for just-arrived-in-Brighton-let’s-celebrate drinks OR waiting-for-the-train-home-let’s-have-lunch type events — Everything on the menu is tasty and vegetarian, and lots of it is vegan too — They have a daily specials sheet with loads of lovely dishes listed on it, and they often make jokes on it — They allow dogs, hurrah! The other day Mister Benji and I had a lovely lunch at The George. I had one of the specials of the day, the delicious Wild Wild West burger — a vegan burger with salsa and onion rings served with chips and a side of Will Smith jokage — while Benj enjoyed a bowl of water supplied by the friendly bar staff. My friends enjoyed a giant Greek salad that seemed to contain a full packet of feta and the Elvis burger, so-called because it contained deep fried banana, peanut butter and vegetarian ‘bacon’. I was pleased with my choice of lunch but was so full afterwards I had to go and sit in Redroaster( ) until I got the energy up to get back to my B&B. It was a very enjoyable sort of fullness, though. The very next morning I was looking for a place for me and the pooch to shelter from a heavy downpour and even though the pub wasn’t open yet the staff didn’t mind me coming in and sitting down for a while. Unfortunately our train home was just before lunch, otherwise I’d have happily made an afternoon of it.

This pub has good beer and veg food. It could be a bit cleaner though. The crowd is very trendy and friendly. The staff are not that attentative. Perhaps I always catch the staff on a bad day. It has quizzes and Sunday roasts.

The George reflects Brighton’s credentials as the greenest(politically) place in the UK. It’s an eco-conscious pub, serving only vegetarian and vegan food, and is committed to recycling wherever possible. That could make it terribly dull and worthy, but it’s not. The interior is large and spacious, but divided up into several areas, each populated by large tables(it’s excellent for large groups wanting to eat — just get there early at week-ends). The décor is clean and modern, with posters about lots of worthy and interesting goings-on. The staff are helpful and friendly, although the food can take a while to arrive when they are busy(the kitchen is quite small, I’m told). Just order as soon as you get there. It does get very busy at week-ends, Sunday lunchtime especially. Oh, and the food. It’s good, with generous portions and daily specials as well as the basic menu(more limited Sunday lunchtime menu of veggie roasts plus the trimmings). They do a good brunch daily 10−12h. All this can be washed down with real ales and organic wines — they try hard to ensure these are also vegetarian(ie don’t use animal products in the manufacturing process). Try it — you might surprise yourself!
