Sensation has been around for a while and shows no sign of leaving us, which is good news to a lot of friends that I know that use this store as their staple gift stop. I’ve often been into not only this store, but their sister location in Covent Garden, London. Selling mainly jewellery and accessories including handbags, most of the items are priced mid-range. Although the range for me isn’t the simple and chic style I would usually go for, there are a number of statement pieces with large stones that always catch my eye. I’ve spent no more than £12 on a pair of simple earrings in here but the service and gift packaging were a nice touch.

In a city with no shortage of jewelry and handicrafts, Sensation sticks out from the crowd by a nice blend of semi-precious stone jewelry mixed with some light silver designs. The general stock is always quite ‘light’ and not gaudy. Certainly not a store to frequent should you require some Bling! Whilst the majority of the stock is the kind of thing you would be buying for your girlfriend, there are also enough bracelets and necklaces of jade and citrine etc. for the more bohemian gentleman. I have bought myself a very nice amber bracelet from here before and more importantly received the thumbs up for presents to girlfriends. There is not always quite as much stock as some of the larger jewlers, but as the saying goes sometimes ‘less is more’. The staff have always been helpful and will box up your purchase nicely, so that those who are lazy or inept at wrapping would be able to get away with giving the gift as it comes from the shop. The price is kind of wide ranging with nice pieces available for those on a budget, but also some fine items for shoppers wanting to spend out of something that will draw compliments at relevant functions. They regularly rotate their stock and display a nice range of items in the window. Highly recommended.

I have to say, first off, that this jewellery store is home to the HUGEST necklaces I’ve ever seen. I mean, some of them are ridiculously massive. They are however, certainly unique and absolutely perfect if you’re aiming to make a bold statement with your accessorising. Most of the jewellery is silver and either crystal or cut glass and in lovely, elegant swirly or flowery designs in a range of stunning colours like deep, rich, bright purples, blues and greens. And at around £20−40 for one of these enormous necklaces, they’re great value as they’d bring a real touch of sparkle to any plain outfit. They also sell a small range of pretty suede bags with flowers sewn on to them that are really unique. I love browsing around here, as their jewellery is visually stunning although I can’t see myself wearing many accessories as huge as some of these are. If you like your jewellery bold though, you’ll absolutely love Sensation.
