Hotel Seattle is a wonderful modern hotel in Brighton marina which boasts sleek, clean Nordic-style design but is often overlooked by us locals because of its location in the Marina. Slowly but surely though, word is getting around that this is a marvellous place to dine whether it be in their chic dining room or al fresco on the deck. The fare is British with a twist, a menu which is incredibly well executed. Favourites amongst my clan include Steamed Mutton Pudding(with Carrot & Suede Purée with Caper Sauce, £13.95), Harveys Ale Battered Haddock & Hand Cut Chips(£10.95) and Mushroom, Tomato & Polenta Sausage(with Buttered Cabbage & Roast Garlic Mash, £9.95) for the vegetarians. Desserts include classics such as Bread & Butter Pudding, Lemon Syllabub and Rhubarb Crumble. Just typing them gets my mouth watering! The wine list is an extensive collection of Continental favourites with a couple of new world picks and the staff are attentive but unobtrusive. Top tips: try the 3 course Sunday lunch for £13.95 and 2 bangers and mash meals for a tenner. see, it doesn’t cost the earth to eat here!
