I have always enjoyed the food here, not least for vast range of the menu. Very well priced and presented. No aftershocks the next day! Hugely popular so it can be quite noisy but that’s what happens to a successful eaterie. Staff work very hard and and do not disappoint customers in waiting times. Go on… go and find out. You’ll love it! John Green — Ifnm writer

Kalamari served as pure elastic bands, great jaw exercise and im sure it’ll make you run laps in your stomach. Tortilini Aurora, like most pasta filling yet doesnt quite hit the palate of flavour. Drinks were standard and the service was moderate. The location is hidden but it was a spontaneous venture for food. Cant say I’ll go there again but at least I tried it, right? see, now this can be one of those monkey see monkey doesnt do, type situations. shame I had to be the first monkey.

Good quality food at low prices, in laid back, enjoyable atmosphere surrounded by Picasso art. There is a great range of Italian food on the menu, not to mention some delicious desserts. Only downside: staff tend to be a bit rude, but the quality and affordability more than makes up for it!

I took a group of international students here last week, specifically agreeing that the £6 two course menu would include all service charges etc. At the end of the meal however, I discovered that this deal had conveniently been forgotten, leaving me lumbered with a £25 service charge. Unfortunately from other reports, this is relatively typical behaviour from Pablo’s. Beyond that, food quality is pretty standard, perhaps even slightly below par. If you’re interested in a set price menu, I would certainly recommend Donatello’s over Pablo’s. While the menu is smaller, the food is of a far better quality.

I took my friend to Pablo’s for lunch on the recommendation of another friend and was really pleased overall. The menu is huge and very reasonably priced. We opted not to go for the £5.99 set menu, as the muscles and whitebait starters which had caught our eye were not included. The service was quick, but we were given enough time to browse the menu properly. The waitress was friendly and our bottle of Pinot Grigiot(very good for £13.99) arrived quickly. The muscles and whitebait starters were a good idea — generous and very fresh tasting, and we found it hard to finish our delicious pasta mains as the portions were so big. No room for dessert, so we finished with a couple of double espressos. The food overall isn’t fancy, but it is fresh and tasty and the portions are generous: the service is friendly and efficient, but not rushed. We couldn’t complain when our total bill including service came to less than £45. I will definitely go back!

For a cheap and cheerful meal in an attractive restaurant Pablo’s is perfect — hence the five star rating. Okay, that £2.95 cheese and tomato pizza may look like it came out of a supermarket box, but what do you expect for that price! I went here too many times to count as a student, and although I tend to avoid it now, preferring to invest in something a bit tastier, it was a huge favourite amongst me and my friends. And to be fair, we did always go for the cheaper options. The fish and meat dishes(as opposed to pizza/pasta) range from £9.95 — £13.95 and look delicious. For the thriftier among us however, the three course set menu is just £5.99 and you can get yummy bruschetta, pizza or pasta, and ice cream for example. The restaurant is quite cosy, there’s always black pepper and parmesan offered, and the food fills a whole. A must if you’re a recent uni student in town.

This was the first restaurant I ever went to in Brighton when visiting friends as a poor student. Its really popular because its dirt cheap and poverty stricken student lay abouts can still have the experience of dining in a restaurant. They offer pizzas for £3−5 and pastas for around £6, be careful though as they make their money by charging over the odds for really bad wine so avoid ordering alcohol if possible. They do student discount and set menu which reduced the price even more. The price and the Lanes location means its a great stop off for a quite while heading out for a shop or to the beach.

If service has been poor, one should not expect to pay for service charge. It is not a legal requirement to pay the charge added to the bill and a customer has the right not to pay for it! Pablo’s on the other hand takes a different approach. We arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes before the table was booked for. Upon arrival we asked to be seated early to which our reply was that table is upstairs. We were not shown to our seats, we were not offered drinks and the service started as it meant to continue. Upon the arrival of other members of the party, they also received the same inhospitable reception. We all settled in and looked over the rather extensive menu. Not only did it cover Italian cuisine, it had meddled with British and French. After half the party had waited 30 minutes for a waiter to come upstairs and take an order for drinks; a member of our party had to go downstairs and ask for service to which the reply was we’ll send someone up. No apology. The process of ordering was somewhat stressful. The waiter had no clue about the specials that were on offer. After waiting 15 minutes from the start of ordering, a member of our party went to enquire about our drinks. They were rudely told that apparently we had only been waiting about ten minutes. Once again we received no apologies. When the drinks finally came we were told that they were out of stock on one product. Also the water we had ordered took a further 15 minutes to arrive. When the starters came half the garlic breads we ordered did not have cheese on. Obviously we made the mistake in ordering or so we were told. Another problem They only had two steaks left. One person would have to have a sirloin. We quickly resolved this problem with somewhat little complication compared to the rest of the meal. Another bottle of wine was ordered, not cold and not opened. We had to ask for the manager who was rude throughout the process to open the wine. On arrival of the main courses, I had to wait a further 5 — 10 minutes for my main course to arrive. I enquired into why my meal was taking longer, whether they had a mistake in the kitchen or whether another waiting mistake took place. The waiter did not offer a response but only replied by saying it’s special. This was repeated over and over again. The food was adequate for the money. When the bill came the service charge was on there and we deducted this from the total of our bill. We still paid the full price for the food and drinks. When the waiter came over to collect the money, I informed him that the food was good but the service was diabolical and we were refusing to pay the service charge. We started our exit from the building. Members of our party were stopped from leaving by the waiting staff. Not only by rudely talking to us, but one waitress forcibly touched one member of our party. We attempted to explain that we did not have to pay service charge by law and as the service was awful we weren’t going to pay. The management tried to argue that it was Pablo’s law. Upon exit from the building we were told that our faces were on CCTV and that the police would be called. We were also hurled abuse by the staff shouting all sorts of expletives. This was also repeated by the phone call I received 5 minutes later. The manager did not offer any apologies for the conduct of her staff but was still hurling abuse in all sorts of directions. These are not your usual waiting staff, I assure you. Overall, Pablo’s was an awful experience. Upon another review the management has replied by stating that they do not want people who do not want to pay service charge. They suggest going to McDonalds instead. In future I will be going to McDonalds and I recommend it over Pablo’s every time.

I’ve been to Pablo’s on at least 7 occasions since I’ve been living in Brighton and it’s never disappointed me. Cheap, delicious Italian food, really friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. I highly recommend.

Probably the best Italian restaurant in town! To start off, the food is amazing. Pizzas are freshly and deliciously baked and the pastas are pure perfection. You can choose from a full range of Italian food. Although they do also serve seafood and traditional plates like chicken and etc. For drinks you can order wine, beer or the thickest milk&ice cream shakes! Price ranges from 2.50 upwards, but 2 people can easily get away with 15 pounds. The staff is always waiting to sit you down and serve you, however it is pretty packed with screaming kids and extended families on the weekends. So, if you want to really enjoy the good atmosphere and the delicious food, choose a quiet weekday evening to experience Pablo’s.
