This tasty place is perfectly placed in the centre of town on the way up to the station. They’ve made ordering simple — choose from a salad bowl, wrap or pasta then pick your meat, toppings and dressing. I opted for the salad bowl with steak topped with croutons and Parmesan and dressed in pesto. It was a tasty and very filling salad. A perfect place for a quick bite to eat that won’t break the bank and much better than a boring sandwich plus they offer great discounts for Unilocalers!

Got the Unilocal deal, showed up one time about a month back at around 7PM and was told that most of the good stuff was gone. For the Americans in the crowd, you could think of this as Italian Chipotle, but considerably nicer. As Sophie and others have mentioned, you pick a pasta, piada(read: italian flatbread that’s kind of like hench paratha or roti) or salad, a sauce, and three toppings(extras are 50p) Attractive enough branding and clean, industrial looking interiors lend Eatalio the appearance of a proper lunchtime eatery. I ordered the British rump steak and almost opted for basil pesto sauce before being reproached by the manager, who steered me towards the rather plain sounding pomodoro. I am glad I listened. If there is one thing that really distinguishes Eatalio from some kind of posh Subway, it’s the flavour of their sauces and toppings. This is part and parcel of those truisms and tired rhetoric about the freshest ingredients, but trite or not, it’s what makes Eatalio worthwhile. Two things cut through the sauce: tomato and garlic. No surprises, but simple elegance is a winner. Onions have the right amount of bite and aren’t too weak. As you would expect from a proper italian place, the Parmesan here is excellent. Nicely shaved and has that umami we all crave. Given that I got two massive wraps(sadly not both for me), drinks, and a suitably dense brownie for 10 quid(with the Unilocal deal), this was probably the single best value for money meal I’ve had in Brighton. Definitely buy the voucher and at least try this place. There was a bit of a wait, but I was duly notified of this when I ordered my steak. My friend ordered a chicken piada, which didn’t take much time at all and was reportedly excellent. That said, we did turn up around 1:45; the lunch rush must have already been dwindling. I can’t wait to go back and try a pasta bowl! Would give this 4 and a half, if that were an option.

Italian fast food. The idea is you choose what type of pasta you want(or you can have a wrap), the«meat», the you choose the type of sauce, then you can finally choose a few toppings. I opted for fusilli, spicy chicken, then non-spicy tomato sauce. For the toppings I chose parmesan, olives and sweet potato. Some lovely olives were served before the main meal arrived in a plastic bowl. The portion size was quite generous for the price. The meat wasn’t quite evenly heated enough. Plastic cutlery is something I am not keen on, but at least it wasn’t too flimsy. Wine is available so that’s a plus(served in a rather small 125ml plastic«glass», but at least it was reasonably priced). The dessert was a tiramisu, not made on the premises, but instead the sort of thing you would buy in a supermarket. So overall, a good place but not great.

Popped in here for lunch today as I’d heard good things and found out that they do gluten free pasta. And they do more than one kind of gluten free pasta which is a plus! The pasta is made when you order which has the benefit of knowing it is fresh, but sadly the disadvantage of making the meal take quite a long time. I waited about 15 – 20 minutes for mine, which wouldn’t be bad if I was with a friend or had the afternoon relatively free, but with a 45 minute lunch break it was just a bit too long. Luckily the wait DID end up being worth it. I had penne with pomodoro sauce, the non-crispy chicken, courgettes & mushrooms, onions, peppers and mozzarella. SOMANYPOINTS for giving an actual decent amount of cheese!!! And the sauce had a lot of flavour. I’d sort of expected a typical bland tomato sauce, but it was lovely. Total came to about £7, but it was a significant portion of food! Again, it probably won’t be a regular lunch spot for me because of the wait, but I will definitely pop in from time to time.

Healthy, freshly prepared Italian fast food. Came here because they do gluten free pastas. Excellent service. Pretty good value.

Something a bit different, spaghetti wraps?! Sounded odd at first and I feared a carb overload but it’s actually really tasty. The pasta was cooked fresh to order and I went with crispy chicken. Choose your sauce and garnish and your off. You can also get pasta bowls and salads which my wife had and was really tasty. Nice coffee also. It never seems busy which is surprising as it’s much nicer than the average high street fare. Defo worth a look.

Attended a Unilocal meets event here, which was excellent, and so can recommend the following: — samples of a piada were amazing — a wonderful flatbread wrapped around veg, cheese and a pomodoro sauce, it was delicious, cannot recommend this highly enough(the bread was unparalleled; savoury, light and yet hardy enough to hold the filling) — Sicilian lemonade — delicious, on a hot day, hard to beat — the pasta bowl — main course — was delicious: choose from 4 pastas(I chose wholewheat), three sauces(I had alfredo as I’d already tried the pomodoro, both lovely), and many fillings(courgettes, mushrooms, peppers, etc. for me) plus a variety of toppings(which do cost a little extra) For the price and selection, this place cannot be beaten, and if you’re looking for somewhere for a healthy, hearty lunch that’s a little different, you will not be disappointed.

I came here for the Unilocal meets event, so check out my review of that too for some other information. When you walk in, you’ll find it’s incredibly warm and there’s either no AC or it didn’t circulate very well. First impressions however were very good: lovely artwork on the wall, gorgeous aroma of garlic and a friendly welcoming. The menu is quite complicated, but luckily the manager was on hand to offer advice on how the whole thing works. The menu is quite vast yet limiting at the same time. There are too many customisation options, yet not enough base options. When we came in, the menu listed 3 base options: Angel hair pasta, wrap or salad. The meat options were very good and I went for the salad with crispy chicken. Absolutely delicious and very fresh ingredients! Colourful, fresh, vibrant flavours. The service was excellent from the manager. He helped explain all the steps. The staff were a bit lost but I think they were just new. One little niggle: There was no toilet sign on the doors or anything, so was hard to find. I’d definitely come back for a super casual lunch, but it’s not really a dinner venue, as it’s meant to be street food, and the containers and cutlery are plastic. For what it does, it’s very good.

The food here is really good. If you want to try something unusual, ask for the piada wrap with spaghetti!

I’d been here on a couple of work meetings recently, but hadn’t actually got around to trying any of the food! So yesterday I decided to take the plunge and go for it. Looking at the menu, there is an awful lot to choose from, and if you’re as indecisive as I am, choosing what you want can take a while! You begin with choosing from pasta, a wrap or a salad box. then there is a variety of meats to choose from, which you can then add vegetables and other toppings to, and you finish with a hot or cold sauce. I opted for pasta with beef, vegetables, a spicy tomato sauce with olives and parmesan. There was quite a lot of food in my bowl! Despite me taking forever to decide what I wanted to eat, I eventually really enjoyed the food, and it seems like a good place to pop in for a quick spot of lunch. I think if the menu was streamlined and simplified a bit, it might make it a bit easier to choose what you want. All in all, it was tasty. I also had a Soya Latte, and their coffee is provided by local coffee heroes Small Batch, so that was nice to know.

Eatalio has just opened so I was keen to go down and take advantage of their introductory 30% discount offer! I’m afraid I was very disapointed– the flyer spoke of lots of different types of meats cooked in herbs and spices off the grill but in real fact they were just cooked meats in cafeteria metal trays-and they didnt look good. I debated the beef but she told me it was cooked all the way through, not pink. I asked about the Piada(italian thin flat bread) and she presented me with standard wraps –still in a plastic bag. I opted for spicy italian sausage — which sadly turned out to be bland and not at all spicy. The staff were nice enough but I got the feeling they didn’t really want to be there– apart from the chap taking payments — he was chirpy. Its not a place i’d wanna sit and spend time in– urban themed with corrogated iron, felt cold. So on the whole the whoke experiece was very underwhelming, the food was sicky and i couldnt finish it– and didnt really want to. Don’t think i’ll be going back-was ok as it was 30% to write it off but at almost £7 a meal at normal prices I’s recommend you avoid potentially getting ripped off!
