Lovely little café with gorgeous and unique, mostly monochrome interior. Very friendly and relaxed service, with a wide range of lunch options to choose from. Eventually, I managed to decide on a sandwich, which was very tasty, especially the bread which was extremely fresh. There was the option of white, brown or granary. I went for the latter. The only thing that let my lunch down was the chicken… there wasn’t much of it, and it was clearly chopped and formed, in small cubes. The other elements of the sandwich(bacon, avocado and salad) were all lovely. At £5.50, I expected a bit more but have also tried the panini’s(more around the £3.50 mark) and they are very good value for money in my humble opinion. All in all, a lovely little place to come for a spot of lunch. The cakes looks very tempting but sadly, the sandwich was very filling so I can’t comment on the cakes… at least not this time!

We stumbled upon Bertie’s on our walk back through the North Laines. I had the pulled-pork stew for a late lunch which was tasty but the presentation and bread was a bit simplistic. The café is small and the décor is unique. Service was prompt and also friendly.
