Great collection of ladies and gents clothes. Always stay on top of the trends and have great staff who are basically free personal stylists for you. Offering lots of help and honest advice.

Quietly sitting down the side of the city hall, Yoke doesn’t shout about itself, and it really should. This gorgeous clothing store has a great range of men’s and women’s clothing, and while it is not cheap, you will not see every Tom, Dick and Henrietta wearing the same thing at every turn. The labels they stock such as Maison Scotch and Common People are interesting and beautifully made and cater for those who just want something a little different. Special mention must go to the staff. They are wonderful, not jumping on you the moment you walk in desperate to get your VISA card, but warm, friendly, knowledgeable and cool. This place is definitely worth checking out and if it is a little out of your range like me, watch out for their sales as you will be in luck with a non-bland bargain. ;-)

Situated down beside the oh so cool Made In Belfast the shop promises a designer shopping experience. I’ve only ever been in for a browse as the prices are a tad towards the high end but there are always interesting items and the stock seems to change quite regularly. There’s a ton of the usual designer labels along with a few more obscure names. The shop itself is clean and uncluttered and the staff are really pleasant with none of the attitude a few other Belfast ‘designer’ shops have. Definitely worth a look if you’re feeling flush or want to splash out on something smart. Pros: Nice shop and welcoming staff. Cons: Not cheap

Yoke is a shop that isn’t on my normal shopping route, given that the vast majority of their stock is out of my price-range *sigh*, but it’s not somewhere I avoid because I feel poor and uncomfortable when I go in. They didn’t always do women’s clothes, so most of my experience comes from shopping with an ex-boyfriend. The stuff was never really his style, but they did have some pretty cool t-shirts that were expensive enough, but not out of reach.

I completely agree with Rosejane(the previous reviewer)…Yoke was incredibly welcoming and laidback in comparison to many of these kinds of upmarket boutiques. A welcome change, some might say. My sister and I strolled in and were greeted by the friendly sales assistant. We had a nosey at some of the full-price clothes, but decided we didn’t have £100 to fish out for a shirt(lovely as it was). The two-thirds off rail caught our attention immediately, and we had a good dig through the small variety of clothes hung there. I further noticed a cashmere section, with all jumpers /cardigans under £40(bargain…), so decided to try on a cashmere /merino wool blend chunky cardie. Unfortunately it just wasn’t doing anything for me whatsoever, so back it went on its hanger. A gorgeous short wool coat also caught my eye, but this time the small size was too tight, and there wasn’t a medium. Sigh. The sales assistant came over to ask us if were ok, which was really nice of him, yet at the same time, we were given space to have a look. He even told we could keep trying things on, and not to worry if we didn’t purchase anything. Awk, if only they were all like that. Expensive, but pleasantly so.

Expensive, select, urbane clothes shop for me particularly noteworthy for its silk evening tops and a glorious silver sequinned top way above my head in terms of suitability, occasion to wear and at £200, it goes without saying, personal budget. There were various coats and jackets including the new and uptrended Barbour. When I went in an excellent sale was in progress, which included high quality bargains around at £50. Unlike some expensive clothes shops I found the Yoke quite friendly and welcoming. I’d make a point of visiting more regularly as I think it could turn up something good — it’s all a matter of individual preference of course.
