A bright, sunny, hot day and a breath of sea breeze in the city centre today started me thinking about holidays and how nice it would be just to go and relax somewhere like the South of France. I was just reflecting grumpily on the present unfeasibility of such frippery when I found myself outside L’Occitane, which actually cheered me up a little. It’s a lovely shop selling beauty products from this company that specialises in products originating from Provence and even if there is a marketing ploy at work here who cares? The fragrances of rose, lavender, lemon are wonderfully fresh and natural. Although it’s expensive — at the very least, £7.00 will get you a fabulous bar of lemon or lavender soap — I think you will get what you pay for. There is also a range of skincare items and a skin consultation available in house which appeals a lot more than a department store equivalent. The shop is beautifully presented and laid out, a delightful capsule of luxury laced with a light touch of environmental responsibility behind the company’s plant based products.

L’Occitane is a Mediteranean skin care brand, which is simply put, DIVINE. Their products are amazing, they can be pricey depending on the item you’re after but while you’re in the store you’re always offered the best customer service and you can try any of the lovely testers, you might even get some free samples to try them out(If you’re not offered, just ask!) The staff know everything about their products(especially Heather) they all seem really commited to the up keep and essence of the shop. My all time favourite product of theirs is the hand cream which, 100% honestly, is like a miracle cream, no lie, after hardly any use of it I had the softest most baby like hands ever.(Something to do with shea butter I’m told) Ah it’s so great. That’s only their hand cream, they sell loads of simply amazing products in a heavenly serene atmosphere. Through research of the shop I’ve learnt two really impressive things, first that they use Braille labelling to make their products accessible to visually impaired people and second since 2005 they have created 100% certified-organic products on a regular basis. I’m impressed, I really am. As I say, divine!
