I’ve been to the Cabaret supper club a few times now and each time I haven’t been disappointed. A lovely meal accompanied with good table service is hard to find this days, but AM: PM pull it off well. The set menu has always had a great offering and although the food is being served en mass the quality thankfully doesn’t suffer. Food and drink is only one side to the evening however. As you eat there is usually a lounge singer with rat pack and other early Vegas/Hollywood songs, great for setting a relaxed and comfortable mood. Then once dinner is over the real show starts, with a hilarious Drag Queen compare and talented burlesque dancers. Great value for money! Keep an eye out for groupon offers too.

The food is very nice, better than most bars. I’ve been a few times, most notably for afternoon tea with my mother. It was a delightful afternoon and the staff were fantastic, really attentive. I would recommend this place to everyone.

There are two of these in Belfast and I don’t really think that either are much to write home about. The one near City Hall is the better of the two. Its smaller and a bit cosier and usually have some pretty decent tunes on the juke box or have a good DJ pumping out some good music. Its certainly a solid enough place for a wee pint. The Botanic Avenue one is a different story. I went there for a work night out and didn’t have a good time at all. We were up on the top floor and the staff they made available were awful. Surly and unhelpful to the point of being aggressive. There are no toilets on the top floor so we kept on having to go past people eating downstairs which can’t of been any fun for them at all. Poorly thought out and a bit trendy for its own good.

I have only been to this AM: PM once, I have been to the other near the City Hall more frequently. I have to say that this one is better in my opinion. Its nicer inside, more comfortable and more spacious. I went there for a party once with like 20 people and had a great time. I had the steak that night and it was very very good. The service was great, however alike a lot of place these days they automatically add on the service charge for big groups. Which is to be expected I guess. There is a good early bird menu with plenty of options. The tunes where good also which only added to the fun and the atmosphere. Very nice facilities I also recall. I would definitely go back at the drop of a hat!

I’ve never eaten in this Gastro pub but I have been out on the lash in it. A client of my fiances took us out for a meal and being aware that it was going to be yuppie I dressed in a lovely silk red dress. Not being a lady who is used to the finer things in life I got suitable slaughtered on the champagne the client kept buying and ended up drinking most of it myself as those two chatted away. As far as I remember the bar was leather seated with long benches and tables along the back. Lots of low lighting and mirror effects. lots of yuppie types drinking expensive looking cocktails and chatting about work. I spilt a cocktail down my dress so then we had to go home — not my finest hour but I do remember the staff were nice about it but the people at the really close table next to us weren’t. It’s a bit too into itself for my liking but I also remember the menu looked good and they had early bird meal deals on offer. That night ended with an ‘i’m never drinking again’ finale!

AM: PM is one of my favourite restaurants. I’ve been coming here for the past five years and never once have I been disappointed. It has a nice relaxing atmosphere and the trendy but stylish decoration gives you the feeling you’re in a more up market place. The only slight drawback is the positioning of the tables. They’re placed quite close to each other which doesn’t really allow for a very romantic vibe and can’t make it hard not to listen in on your neighbour’s stories. On the other hand you can always rely on a good standard and interesting mix of food. With dishes on the menu like Chorizo Infused Chicken Penne Pasta, Chicken & Apricot Curry and Mozzarella & Asparagus Stuffed Marinated Pork Fillet you just don’t know what to choose. But as all dishes come at very affordable prices, this is just one more reason to come back for another delicious meal.

After only recently discovering their sister restaurant in the city centre I was really excited to come across am: pm on botanic while out with my sister. They offer lunch for £5.95 and as I was so taken with the other place I thought we’d give it a go. I was not disappointed! It had a slightly different feel to the place– less bohemian and more cosmopolitan– but the menu is just as impressive and I went for the warm chicken and chorizo sald… OMG! Its awesome! They really pack n the chorizo in little slices and the dressing is really nice too! The portions were big and the food really high standard! My sister got the chili wrap which was good tho had a little too much sweet chili sauce! They stock a full bar and have plenty of seats both inside and out! Certainly worth £5.95 for such high quality food and service!

I went for the very first time to this place this week for a spot of lunch and it was very very very nice. Though the place was quiet(it was only after 12), it does boast a very relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere, one which could have me sitting there all day. I got the fish and chunky chips from the lunch menu for £5.95 while my girlfriend got a chicken wrap for the same price. Both of them were very good, and the staff were more than friendly, enquiring about our days and ensuring the meal was to our tastes. Though the place is quite dressy, I cannot fault it. The meals were exactly the perfect amount for lunch. Excellent

This is the one of two am: pm restaurants in Belfast. Fixed within the body of Madison’s Hotel, it offers a good first choice for visiting tourists in order to experience some of Belfast’s top class faire. The décor is modern, with a little to many reflected surfaces and chrome fixtures for my tastes, seeing my face glancing back at me from every direction was a little unnerving, but I can tell what they are going for in terms of style. The menu before 7pm is from a set menu, with two courses for approx £14/15 pp. The choice in the menu is well planned. There’s something for everyone and all of it is cooked to perfection. The drinks are just a little to pricey but with the food costing so little, it all evens out.

When Am: Pm opened it was one of the first restaurants in Belfast to have that eclectic, opulent modernity — that is now beginning to pop up everywhere, as those in the hospitality industry in Northern Ireland begin to realize that we can enjoy fancy restaurants and ‘posh’ looking places just like the rest of the British Isles. It’s got a lovely ambience, you really feel like you’re going out for a wonderful evenings dining and enjoyment, and they cater for anything from tables for two, to long tables for 20, and even have a private function room on the top floor — where we held my Dad’s 60th birthday — which of course went with a real swing. The menu is Irish Fushio — with a hint of European food and also easily recognizable dishes too. It’s fairly pricey, but the service is excellent and it’s worth it for a night out to spoil yourself. I hear on the grapevine that they do weddings too — so if you’re the sort of modern couple who want somewhere central, with good food and an intimate yet stylish atmosphere I would say this would be a good option.
