A Padaria Portugesa

Loved the croissant brioches here, great place to grab a bite on the go or dine in with a book. No wifi or outlet.

I work near this place, and wow! it’s pretty impressive. It’s cheap. Vegetable soup, fresh orange juice, and a quiche slice for almost 5 euros! You cannot go wrong with that, and the food is fresh and delicious. I have been to another location and this one is my fave! I am a regualr during lunch time. Keep it up!

Portugal prides themselves on their pastries. Having to do my research without the help of Unilocal,I found this place in one of my guidebooks I had brought with me. Very easy to find once you get off the metro at the Baixa-​Chiado stop. It’s a cute little shop off one of the main walking streets. There’s a good bit of seating downstairs, but there is also additional seating in the upstairs loft area.
I made my way upstairs and left my husband to pick out my pastries downstairs. He did quite well coming back with the two ‘main stars’ of Portuguese pastries. And of course, my morning espresso. This is where our love affair with Portuguese coffee officially began. We were struck by cupid’s arrow and new we would struggle to find something else better.
The pastries were delicious. The Pastel de Belem — if I had to describe it to someone — is like a crème brûlée in pastry form. So basically you can have a little baby crème brûlée any time you want! The Bola was coated in sugar and filled with the same custard. Our first official day ‘in’ Lisboa was off to a roaring start.

Die A Padaria Portugesa-​Kette ist ein Mix aus Bäckerei und Coffee-​Shop. In Lissabon-​Reiseführern liest man ja gerne, dass die Portugiesen ein Faible für korrektes Anstehen haben. Daher hat es uns auch nicht verblüfft, dass man im A Padaria Portugesa am Eingang Nummern ziehen muss und dann der Reihe nach bedient wird. Im ersten Moment haben wir uns über unsere eigene Cleverness gefreut, dass wir sofort kapiert haben, dass wir eine Nummer ziehen müssen. Aber dann kam gleich die Retourkutsche: Falsche Sorte der Nummer denn es gibt eine für die Bäckerei und eine für den Coffee Shop. Etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig
Von den Preisen hat uns das A Padaria Portugesa positiv überrascht: Ein Gebäckteil, ein Milchkaffee und ein frisch gepresster Orangensaft für unter vier Euro. Das würde ich gerne einmal in München erleben
