Esquire Magazine in its recent article on top 10 airport bars included Bubbles Seafood and Wine Bar on its Top 10 Airport Bar list, so during a layover, I thought it would be worth a try, even at 9am. I was definitely impressed with the bubbly, food, and décor, and the gigantic aquarium(with Corenwyn bottles?) is a nice draw for kids and adults. But the towering wall of bottles behind the counter is equally impressive. Once there, you order at the counter from a menu that includes various shellfish and smoked fish. A good way to start is their champagne and oyster special, where for 17 euros you get a glass of Tattinger plus 3 plump oysters. They also had a wide variety of sandwiches — shrimp, herring, mackeral, eel, etc. I tried the herring and it arrived in a small roll, plus onions and pickles. Delicious! I would definitely recommend Bubbles as a nice upscale option for any layover at Schiphol.
