Burgertrut

A very good burger joint with an inconspicuous storefront. Burger Trut (Burger B*tch) sits just across the street from Markthal’s western entrance, next to the canal. The restaurant has a very relaxed atmosphere and plenty of space to not feel claustrophobic like other places. The burger selection wasn’t as plentiful as I thought but they’re tasty nevertheless. There’s a Specials Menu on the back wall.

Our Rotterdam-​native friend took us to this burger joint located in a hip-​metro area surrounded by lots of eateries, galleries, and a lively atmosphere. Great casual dining spot with a limited (but scrumptious menu). This place is truly one of a kind in these areas and it definitely reminds me of the gastropub fare I enjoy back home. 2-​thumbs up!

Burgers are bomb! Good selection of tasty beef patty burgers as well as vegetarian/​vegan options. Side dishes are nice too.
Serves fritz kola if you’re into that, too.
Star deducted because the smoke from the open kitchen (!) seeps into the dining area, which was a bit disturbing during the meal. The smell and taste of charred meat smoke in the air did little to stimulate our appetites, and we left as quickly as we could. However, the meal was still great!

What a hipster place! But fun. The décor is so simple but interesting because of small details.
I had a Baked Jamaican burger. Made of tofu prepared with a jerky sauce and red onions. A veggie burger with a lot of taste. Also their drinks are with a twist. They serve drinks of Fritz, a German company.
Cool place.

Die Burgertrut ist das Restaurant der Kulturinitiative Roodkapje. Letzteres ist einfach zu übersetzen, wer Burgertrut übersetzt, lern gleich mal ein Niederländisches Schimpfwort.
Die Einrichtung ist zusammengewürfelt, trotzdem ist es im Laden insgesamt sehr schlicht und einfach. Das Problem ist allerdings die Burgertrut zu finden, da das Restaurant immer nur in Interimslocations ist. So musste stand ich bei meinem letzten Besuch auch vor verschlossenen Türen und musste erstmal suchen.
Es gibt sehr leckere vegetarische Burger, aber auch ein paar mit Biofleisch. Allerdings haben mir die vegetarischen Optionen so gut geschmeckt, dass ich noch gar nicht in Versuchung kam einen normalen Burger zu probieren. Statt Pommes Frites gibt’s Kartoffelecken mit Rosmarin, mal was anderes und an Pommes sollte es einem in Holland ja nicht gerade mangeln. Da zu einem guten Burger ein Bier gehört, gibt es hier von La Trappe das Biobier Puur, welches ich auch jedem ans Herzen legen kann.
Wer also beim Burgeressen ein gutes Gewissen haben will, muss hier her gehen. Neben der Tatsache, das (fast) alle zutaten bio sind, gehen auch die Einnahmen an die Kulturinitiative.

Not bad at all, the meat was tasty, but if u r looking for a traditional burger this is not the place, not at all. They dont even have fries :) also they more options for vegetarians. If u like to try smt different go for it, but if u r looking for a real burger, no way.
