Good quality food, cool atmosphere. i started with an excellent pumpkin soup and continued with a delicious pork cutlet with lentils. Palatable house wine. Not cheap but worth the price. Friendly service.

My wife and I have been wandering Delft, searching out great places to eat. I saw the Unilocal reviews for Rossio, just a few minutes from our hotel, so I decided to check it out. When we got there at around 6PM, it was busy but not full. Soon after we were seated, all the tables on the main floor, as well as the outside tables, were full. There is also an upstairs room with additional seating. The waitresses all spoke excellent English and I was pleased to see that if one was busy, another would stop by to help us. I ordered veal with tomatoes, olives, zucchini and basil, and as a side dish, «caramelized chicory with raisins and walnuts». My wife ordered cod with eggplant and peppers, and as a side dish kohlrabi and watercress salad with a yogurt dressing. Both of our entrees were excellently prepared and absolutely delicious. The cod, in particular, was cooked perfectly and wasn’t drowned in sauce as it often is. My chicory side dish was not at all what I had envisioned, but it was wonderful anyway. I had been picturing chicory leaves that had been sauteed or something like that. Instead, it was more of an endive-like stalk, prepared in a dish with a cheese or cream sauce(and the raisins and walnuts), then baked in the oven until the vegetable was tender. I spooned this onto my main plate and it complemented the veal very well. My wife said her salad was«to die for». With our meal, I had a beer, which the waitress helped me pick as i was unfamiliar with most of them. We settled on a Leffe Brun Belgian beer not on the menu, but it was exactly what I wanted. My wife had a white wine, also selected with assistance, that went well with the more delicate flavor of the cod. I was pleased to see that the prices for wine and beer were reasonable and about the same(for a glass of wine and bottle of beer) — so often the wine is more expensive. We also had dessert. I had an apple tart that was baked to order, with a side of home-made vanilla ice cream that had vanilla bean and some kind of additional flavoring that was delicious. My wife had the chocolate mousse with almonds, that was also very good. We finished with an inexpensive glass of excellent Port wine. The service was excellent — when we needed something, a waitress came by quickly. All three were cheerful and pleasant, though continually busy. I thought the cost was reasonable considering what we had — the total bill came to about 72 Euros. I have paid more and received less. We will go back again later this week — it was that good!

We went here for a special occasion, and it was definitely special! The interior is very nice and comfortable, and the open kitchen is very cool. The food is delicious! We had the seafood stew, which was amazing, and the steak– which was also great. The wine selection is good and the staff very friendly and knowledgable about the food and wine. A definite«aanrader»!

Rossio is without a doubt the best restaurant we have been to in Delft. We’ve returned three times, and each time the food has been great. We are amazed by the quality of the ingredients and the chefs’ abilities to make truly delicious(not overly complicated) fresh food. The quality of food and flavors are very reminiscent of one of our favorite restaurants back in the U.S.(Chez Panisse Restaurant in Berkeley, CA). The Delicatessen Rossio(an appetizer) is a MUST at dinner. We tried a grilled veggie sandwich with fresh mozzarella cheese for lunch… it was to die for. Last Friday, we finished our meal with the panna cotta(topped with honey and mandarin oranges) — it was the best we’ve ever had anywhere. The waitresses are very friendly and their English is great. We cannot believe that this gem is located on our street!
