This hidden gem of a restaurant was recommended by our Airbnb hosts. Its location could not be beat on a cold rainy day since it was just steps from our door. Reservations are recommended, since it has limited seating so fills quickly. The friendly multilingual owners provided personalized attention and recommendations, from food to wine. The menu varies week by week, and we could not choose one dish so got the chefs menu. The chef’s menu is very reasonably price for what is provided. It included 5 smaller sized dishes. The first dish was tartare of celeriac with red wine gravy nestled around a poached egg yolk topped with shaved winter truffle and mushrooms. Next, we got perfectly cooked, tender scallops served with a delicious caramelized yogurt sauce. Next, slivers of duck topped with crisp kale. The locally-caught mullet was fresh, flavorful, and slightly sweet. It was served with a contrasting bitter catalogna. The evergreen salad with oxtail — porcini dumpling, were topped with chips of Jerusalem artichoke. We ended our meal with panna cotta, which was sweet fluffy vanilla goodness worthy of an angel. All dishes were beautifully presented, and tasted just as good as they looked.

Wink has it all — cozy atmosphere, great food, and welcoming owners/staff. Thankfully we arrived early and had no problem getting a table. We saw how quickly the intimate little restaurant filled up though. The owners spent time translating the menu for us. Choices were not vast as the menu stays fresh, but all that we had was excellent! This was by far the best meal we had in Amsterdam. We found a gem!

Hands down, the best meal we had in Amsterdam. This quaint family joint is a wonderful place to share a well prepared and intimate meal. The owners are very friendly and give personal attention to each guest. There were only 3 people running the show, one of them being the chef. She came to our table, explained the menu to us and took our order. They have a limited menu for the day, 2 – 3 choices for each course, one of which is a vegetarian dish. The plates are beautiful and the food is excellent. They pour decent wine and although we didn’t order any cocktails, I have to say that they looked very nice! The restaurant has limited seating so do take advantage of their online reservation portal. Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food. One drawback: they only take cash. No credit cards.

This small family own restaurant was one of our best culinary experiences in Amsterdam during our recent stay there. Jan Paul and his wife Natasha go out of their way to make everybody feel welcome. The food is fantastic and the wine carefully selected. An overall very enjoyable experience.

This place is a wonderful hidden gem. Simple traditional food cooked with great imagination and style. Décor is unpretentious and simple bistro style but don’t let that fool you as it hides in plain sight. The place is obviously very popular with the locals so perhaps I’ll upset them by getting this place on the Unilocal map, but I can’t recommend this place enough. Special mention to the front of house and his effortless Dutch charm as he takes you through the days menu. Go there, do it, do eeeeet
