This place has some of the best grilled cheeses i have had in a while, cured my semi hang over in a jiffy! Also serves nice coffees and juices! Prices are a bit steep, but is understandable given all food is bio/sustainable and turn over is likely lower due to remote location. Inside is nice and cozy, with electric heater to battle the cold. Bit chaotic, but also adds to the charm! In summer they have a lovely terrace by the looks of it, and currently expanding inside space as well! NOWTAKESCREDITCARD!

Waargenoegen was not as awesome as I expected it to be. BOO Rachelle ;) haha. No, I think it will definitely be much more awesome with nice weather, because the outside spots looked really cool for relaxing and fun in the sun. The inside seating options were rather messy. Not that much spots in general. And it was cold inside. The coffee was nice though and the apple pie very yummy. I tasted a very strong rose flavor in the pie but when I asked they told me were is no rose water or anything like that in the pie. I’m not so sure though,… I probably just guessed their secret ingredient ;) So it was very good, but… very expensive! We paid 14 euros for 2 pieces of pie and 2 coffee. That is a lot, especially for a ‘messy’ place like this outside the city center. Well they can probably afford to ask this much because there is no other place for drinks and food around. All the sandwiches and fruit juices were also kind of expensive. So, 3 stars because it was okay. It is nice that there is a little spot around this place. The staff was friendly as well and I can image their terrace is a cool spot in the summer. And of course because the food and coffee was nice.

Love unexpected discoveries like this. Went to check out some furniture at van Dijk & Ko and Neef Louis and found this little gem of a café. Yummy food. Quirky décor. Just a wonderful spot for a delicious lunch in the sun. Two very gigantic thumbs up for everything we ordered: appletart, banana and almond milk smoothie, enormous artichoke served chilled with a side of dressing, and grilled mackerel sandwich with garlic mayo. YUUUUUMMMMM! Really liked that there was a pitcher of water available to pour yourself a drink cause it was sooo hot that day. There’s also shaded seating with board games to play. If going on a Sunday, take note, they’re only open on the first Sundays of the month(or if it’s sunny) — making it the perfect oasis from hectic IJ-Hallen! Cash only.
