After living in Amsterdam for 2 years and still trying to find a good steak, we heard good things and had high hopes for W 36. Unfortunately, they serve Dutch beef. I assume it is raised differently than beef in the US(more humane?) but generally tastes like garbage. We had a party of 8, 6 Americans and 2 Germans all with big appetites. Everyone ordered various cuts of meat and no one liked their meal. Consistent with Dutch beef, it was very chewy and flavorless. Also, the butchering was terrible! On the T-bone, there were large sections of fat/grizzle along the bone, flapping around the plate. And the fillets were cut very small. It was strange. Prices were very high for such poor quality meat. The sides were a waste of money. Very small and pointless. There’s a potato side that is a tiny pot of potato flavored liquid that was supposed to be a creamy mash. It was bad. On the bright side, the service was friendly and attentive. Décor and ambiance is nice. But, no one in our group will be returning.

My boyfriend and I got this restaurant recommended to us. The meal starts off with blue cheese, pickled veggies, sweet onion jam, and bread with olive oil. Our steak was cooked perfectly. They have different cuts of steak, different ways the steak can be cooked, and many different sauces for the steaks. We also got the baked sweet potato which was our favorite, so good!
