Aaaaaaaamazing! Incredible, sensational seafood! This is my second visit in several years and everything was still just as awesome as I remembered! Live lobster prepared over pasta and lobster Harissa (Mediterranean) were perfectly executed by the talented owner/​chef. A must visit in Amsterdam !

I took my team to dinner on Tuesday night for dinner while I was in town. Excellent food with great service. Each dish was creative and tasty. You must like seafood to go here. I will come back here the next time I am in town. FYI they have valet parking which is really nice!

Wow, this place is amazing. I’m normally not a huge fan of meals consisting mainly of fish, but the meals here are so well done with delicious combinations that it is great even for non-​fish lovers.
We went for the 5 course menu (very expensive but worth it if you’ve got something to celebrate). Each course was a great mixture of different flavors, nothing ever too fishy. Had great combos like deep fried prawn with wasabi ice cream, scallops and chicken, and a cod steak with beignet — mmm! Even the coffee was amazing — served with a tiny crème brûlée. Would definitely recommend it, and go for all 5 courses if the time is right!

One of the finest Fish restaurants in Amsterdam, which we frequently visit. I usually pick the Chef’s selection and am never disappointed. Good selection of Wines also. Its quite a busy place, and needs booking in advance. Do not expect much of privacy, as the seats are arranged very close to each other.
Parking is difficult to find here, but they do have a valet parking.

So here’s the deal… if you have a convention @ RAI Convention Ctr, this is really a fantastic customer lunch or dinner location near the exhibit hall. Upscale service & food quality. Highly recommend this as we’ve use the location for 2 customer meeting during this one convention alone!

Qué restaurantes más raros se encuentra uno en mitad de la nada o, para ser más exactos, dando a una glorieta en obras enfrente de un pabellón enorme para eventos en un barrio de Ámsterdam que parece un Benidorm bien puesto, guiri a incluidos (casi todo el mundo era británico).
Este sitio es una marisquería de bastante lujo con una carta escueta y basada casi completamente en la langosta preparada de diferentes maneras. Yo he comido media con fideos de arroz al teriyaki, espinacas y crujiente de queso, y mi madre se ha comido un lenguado al limón con calamares, champiñones y foie; la única pega aparente ha sido que el lenguado estaba bastante insípido pero, por lo demás, todo muy bien. Ah, de aperitivo nos han puesto unos barquillos de pasta de mantequilla rellenos de crema de bullabesa con trozos de cangrejo; creo que no tengo que decir más.
De postre he pedido la tarta de zanahoria 2013, que viene con melocotón en almíbar, hojuelas de azúcar y sorbete de cítrico, y mi madre pidió un café que acompañaron con 4 pastelitos diferentes con muy buen aspecto.
En cuanto a las instalaciones, muy del estilo de las marisquerías bien montadas de nuestras ciudades, y en los baños hay crema hidratante de romero para que te la apliques después de lavarte, así que todo muy pijín y muy mono. Ah, y los camareros muy educados, incluso al atender una mesa que teníamos al lado que era para ponerles el plato en el suelo.

The Netherlands really needs to work on its culinary marketing.
Even Dutch people tell me that the food is not so good and that it is no reason to go to Amsterdam. If one’s idea of the cuisine is pickled herring, that makes sense. Vis aan de Schelde is not pickled herring. It is, per Unilocal’s descriptions, likely to be as good as it gets.
Fresh seafood done in the style of a high-​end foodie restaurant with impeccable service is the reason to come here. Despite a menu boasting various oysters and lobsters, most diners, myself included, go with the chef’s menu (65 EUR for 5 courses plus multiple amuse-​bouches) which doesn’t make sense to fully describe as the menu changes completely every ten weeks.
The relevant meta-​information: All courses were masterfully and artfully prepared, I tried a foam soup for the first time and it should be experienced, the fish is fresh, and everything was appropriately sized so I did not feel like a balloon at the end of the two hour meal. I’d take a chef here on a date.
Ideal for a special occasion, the service is top-​notch and accommodating. Valet parking in a city of bikes, friendly and detailed course-​by-​course descriptions (available in English as well) and being asked if I need transportation as the meal is winding down just makes me feel under-​classed for this restaurant no matter how I am dressed but my parents would love it. Make a reservation as even in the middle of winter the house was full by the time I left.
Vis aan de Schelde is not cheap but, like French Laundry or Per Se, ought to be experienced — and thought of in that sort of company is a bargain.

The dishes look like piece of artwork found in a museum. I had the chef’s menu and was blown away at the complex flavors and and textures. The accompanying wines were perfectly paired with each dish including dessert. The chef and staff were friendly and informative. The place is chic and cool and seems like a popular spot for local foodies. This is definitely a Dutch secret that should be discovered by more out of towners. If you’re in Amsterdam make the reservation and treat your palate to this delight.
