A truly delicious experience! The atmosphere is lovely, warm and colorful with fresh flowers and wooden tables, small but not at all crowded. The service was very attentive. The menu changes daily, and everything was fresh and featured ingredients from the market or made by friends of the maître de. Will definately be back soon!

Thank you Unilocal for leading us to this little gem. Two blocks from our hotel and unknown to our concierge (at least until today). Tucked right along a canal is this small but very pretty restaurant. We sat outside with drinks and bread until our first course was ready and then launched into a wonderful dinner starting with perfectly prepared softshell crab and a main of precisely cooked veal steak. The food was simple and exquisite in preparation, the service friendly and attentive and the restaurant bright, tables comfortably spaced and quiet and unrushed. A winner.

Thanks to Unilocal we found Versch!!! We had the best meal out of all our travels in Europe! Mark the chef/​owner is a perfectionist of his craft! Rogier has an amazing and warm personality. Perfect for front of the house! This tiny place only has 6 tables and we were lucky enough to snag the last one. Everything is fresh and local. We decided to let them bring us the best off the menu. Black cod with pearl couscous and pea purée was heaven!!! Thank you both for making our time in Amsterdam the best!!!

Short walk from the Wyndham. An evening meal for my wife and I and in-​laws. Menu was fresh and updated regularly. Choices ranged from vegetarian to fish to pork and beef. Bar was limited, but had all of the basics. Food was excellent with all dishes prepared to perfection. Service was even better with conversation with the owner and staff and great attentiveness to detail. Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting AMS,

Nicely tucked along a canal. Cosy environment and friendly service. Very nice fish dish, excellent cauliflower and truffle dish and a fabulous rib eye on a menu that changes weekly.

I had a great evening in the tiny restaurant Versch. Their full name is Spijshuys Versch, which is old-​Dutch for Food House Fresh. They are at Ruysdaelkade 183, at the edge of the Pijp. See

It is a relatively new establishment, it opened in April 2012. Its owner and staff are enthousiastic, they make the guests feel welcome and comfortable, good hosts. They offer a distinct concept that they are proud of.
The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, with the feel of a living room. For the food they make use as much as possible of fresh ingredients, gathered from specialty shops in the neighbourhood. They offer 3-​course menus for an affordable price. The courses are all interesting, and well prepared, the wines are excellent and very affordable as well. The staff is explaining patiently about what they bring to your table.
I was there with a group of 8, at other tables there were smaller groups, most of them 2 or 4. As stated, the atmosphere is cozy, and the acoustics is better than you find in most places in Amsterdam.
