I was wandering down Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal in desperate need of coffee and breakfast. My staunch refusal to enter tourist traps was making life a little difficult that close to Centraal Station when I came across Vinnies. Affordable, excellent quality food and coffee, friendly service, and gorgeous décor caused me to spend over 2 hours here, basking in the sunlight through the windows on the upper floor. I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast, and I’ll be back soon for lunch!

This is a great little breakfast/brunch spot in the centre of Amsterdam. With emphasis on the little — there is VERY limited seating inside. If it’s nice weather they also have some outdoor tables but if it’s raining you might be out of luck. In any case I would recommend this for a group of 2 – 3 people but don’t come here with your whole entourage. They have a really nice range of breakfast food from a standard croissant or porridge right up to a full English breakfast. I had the poached eggs on toast with bacon, and it was pretty heavenly. If you’re looking for a centrally located breakfast place, Vinnie’s is definitely a great option.

Get the Shakshuka, a Middle Eastern dish of poached eggs in spicy sauce. It is GREAT. I added spinach and bacon to mine because I was extra hungry but the dish itself is quite filling. The place is tiny, but comfortable. There’s a small bar to sit at downstairs, and upstairs you’ll find several tables that can accommodate groups of up to 4(more if you’re small and there are no other customers:) Most importantly to me, and maybe only me, if the giant bottle of sparkling water they give you. I’m a huge water drinker and find that I’m usually left wanting when I order water. This was a nice surprise.

Great little café near our hotel! Several of us got poached eggs on brioche… delicious! The scrambled eggs were scrumptious!

This place exceeded my expectations. Had the shakshuka, which was really tasty! The pepper flavor was really strong, which i loved. I was a bit weary ordering two eggs with sauce for 8.5 but it wad rather filling and flavorful.

We loved this place so much we came here twice for breakfast during our four-day trip to Amsterdam. It’s a tiny little place, like many in Amsterdam, but what it lacks in floor space it makes up for in taste, service and atmosphere. Order at the bar and if you’re lucky, grab a seat in the tiny upstairs area, or outside on the quaint little terrace. While the menu isn’t huge, it offers everything you could want for breakfast and some rather tempting lunch options(we never got the chance, but I wish I’d have been able to try the roasted eggplant). On my first visit I tried the Shakshuka — two poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce with feta, coriander and bread to dip — with avocado and it was perfect. Subtle hints of cumin, coriander with a bit of heat at the end. On my second visit I kept it simple and ordered the scrambled eggs on toast(with avocado again, of course). Another 10⁄10. The eggs were so creamy and seasoned perfectly with herbs. Last but not least; the coffee. I don’t know if it was because I was tired from all the walking(and beers the night before) but this place serves the best flat white in Amsterdam! Strong, smooth and really creamy, with a welcomed flapjack sort of thing on the side.

Cute little café in a much quainter(and prettier) area of Amsterdam than the areas tourists frequent. Not a huge selection and the breakfast menu is very simple but a lovely place to sit and drink coffee with new friends.

Super trouvaille !!! A tester !

I’m sorry to have to update my previous five-star review with this dismal two-star one. Yesterday I thought I was being so clever when I suggested this place for a late lunch. After multiple good experiences here I didn’t think it would let me down. Where to begin? Let’s start with the fact that the food had little taste. The black bean hummus sandwich was a very thin layer of a blackish-colored spread with no taste on thin not so tasty bread, covered with some avocado slices(the best part of the dish) and a slice of lime on the side(which slightly improved the flavor). The lentil salad had no dressing and really could have used a citrus vinaigrette to give it some kick. It didn’t come with the bread the menu promised, so I asked the waitress if I could have the bread the salad was supposed to come with. She didn’t apologize, but a few minutes later the cook came out with a slice of bread in his BAREHANDS and said, «you asked for bread?» He set it down on the napkin sitting on the table next to my plate. WHAT??? I can’t make this stuff up. We could not stop laughing for how strange it was. And to top it off, the bread was very blah! The carrot cake was okay-ish flavor wise but a bit dry. These three dishes plus coffee and tea were 35 euros. I felt like I had thrown my money away. Major fail, Vinnies. I hope you read this and get your act together.

My son and I have been traveling around Europe from Prague to Berlin to Lubeck and now in Amsterdam. This little gem is the best breakfast place we have found anywhere! It reminds me of when I was living in San Francisco in my youth… The simple scrambled eggs on toast, with herbs and greens is better than my favorite place, Paia Bay Coffee, at home in Paia, Maui! The classic rock music is the icing on the cake! I will be back tomorrow to try the English breakfast…

We spotted this little place some time ago and decided to give it a try this weekend. Wonderfull breakfast and lunch spot. I took the cauliflower and buckwheat pie with greek yoghurt lime dressing and a ginger tea. The pie was amazing. So, yes I would recommend this dish. When leaving we also grabbed a brownie with salted caramel. Also god like taste. They have coffee and an excellent breakfast menu(we went for lunch). There are two locations. This one seemed the less crowded. Fancy a quick a healthy breakfast or lunch. This is the right place.

I was looking for a place to have a brunch and I was starving so. I wanted something close to my hotel. I found Vinnies just around the corner. And it everything was absolutely perfect ! Amazing pouched eggs with bacon, the carrot cake was over the top. And low price(for Amsterdam standards.)! There’s a little place at the entrance but a few more table are at your disposal on the 1st floor, and it’s cosy and warm! I think it’s gonna become one of my favorite places in Dam !

A tiny café visible on the corner of Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal and Nieuwezijds Kolk. Ordered breakfast takeout — scrambled eggs with smoked salmon and avocado with bread, yogurt granola, fresh squeezed OJ, and hot chocolate. 20 euros total. Very friendly service, quiet on a weekday morning. Everything tasted fresh and good.

What a lovely little coffee bar. A man who loves his coffee made me a cappuccino. It is great! Put sugar in before the froth and gave me the cup with a face with pride. And it tasted awesome. Ill be back.

This was my first eatery escapade in Amsterdam and I am delighted to say that satisfaction was served on two little eggs Florentine! I read about this place online when looking for a good reliable place to go and decided on Vinnie’s because of the breakfast options. Most other places had only carbs and dear me, I am a little apprehensive to the stuff that hits the hips from the lips. That much disclosed, Vinnie’s had a fresh looking selection of salad downstairs. I ended up tasting the quinoa tomatoe salad that was tangy succulent and my friends poached eggs atop smoked salmon. By goly it was savoury! The only thing I gotta say though is that the service was perhaps a little cold to match the salad… Also maybe you should wear heels to go if you’re under six feet tall because the doors and bathroom mirror/sink combo is killer. Dutch people are so tall lol!

Quadratisch, praktisch, gut!
