The Lobby

Somewhat hidden in the alleys just off the main street, I am glad we Unilocaled this place to get breakfast one morning in Amsterdam.
At first, I was surprised at how American the place felt, with a rather Western theme and waitresses that spoke perfect English. There weren’t too many people there on a Monday morning, perhaps because the weather wasn’t very good…
In any case, I ordered the eggs royale, which was like a smoked salmon eggs benedict. With rich hollandaise, and a soft bread on the bottom, I was quite satisfied. The brother got a dish with fried eggs and bacon and a special toast that tasted like multigrain bread on the bottom — also delish.
Overall, I was impressed with the kind service and ease of ordering in English as well as the food! Would go again.

Great spot right off of Dam Square. Loved my flammkuchen (mushroom + cheddar + leek), crème brûlée and koffie verkeerd. The service was fabulous, as was the atmosphere. I’ll be back!

What a great find! The lobby sits in the red lights with giant lovely chandeliers spotting the entrance.
we were a group of 5 coming for lunch, and ordered salads, flaamkeuken and ginger beers. Nice service, good portion sizes, great food!

I can’t eat bread (I’m a coeliac) which often makes breakfasts difficult, especially when traveling. The wait staff at The Lobby were really accommodating and made me an eggs benedict with spinach instead of the usual toast/​muffin. Knock out flavours and texture. I’m not the type to obsess over food from one restaurant to the next, but this is a memorable breakfast and I’ll be back again and again. High scores for service, high scores for coffee and near perfect scores for food. Amazing experience.

Stopped in for breakfast on a whim since this place was around the corner from our Hotel. The french toast was absolutely amazing. I savored every single bite. My friend got the Egg White Omelette. She puts hot sauce on everything for flavor, Literally everything. No hot sauce necessary here even she was shocked. Wish we had found this place before our last morning.

Good place to have breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Enjoy the fireplace, sit in the corner or go into one of the leather seats.
I’ve been to this place about four or five times on different occassions and it just never really lets me down. Most impressive is the design (I concluded recently that I’ve bought many things from their interior for my house as well.) and the wine list (they have a sommelier, and you notice that in the choice).
Supposedly, its one of the best places in the city to have flammkuchen, but I’ve only had the lunch dishes here (eggwhite omlette is great).
The service is quite interesting as well, with many characters that light up the room from breakfast to late night drink.

It might be the coffee shop talking ;) but we may visit again since we LOVED our food and overall experience. So delish– this was an awesome brunch spot!

Perfect place for breakfast. We all ordered Benedicts our first time there and the chef made us complementary pancakes so we could have a taste of everything.
My second breakfast there was the egg whites with spinach and spelt bread, so delicious!
Service is great, prices are perfect, and the food is fantastic! Will definitely be back when I come back to Amsterdam.

Das Lobby bietet eine überschaubare Auswahl an qualitativ hochwertigen, nett angerichteten und leckeren Speisen. Die Weinauswahl, unbedingt nach der zweiten, handschriftlichen Weinkarte fragen, ist gut, und die Flaschenpreise sind für Amsterdamer Verhältnisse wirklich günstig. Abends ist es häufig gut besucht, daher unbedingt vorher reservieren.

Delicious food in a very calm environment. I would say it’s prob romantic, but I’m here myself…
They have reasonably priced set meals, with quite reasonably priced wine.
When you sit down, they provide bread (feels softer/​denser to what you would normally get in the US), and pickled onions. I’ve never had these type of onions before, but they were quite good.
There are some interesting Dutch items on the menu (bitterballen). I had the bitterballen with crab, which was fantastic.
Overall, this place is really good, not too noisy, and not so busy that you can’t get a seat at the bar. If you have a bigger group, you should get s reservation though, because they seem quite popular.

This restaurant was so lovely! Excellent food, and attentive kind service. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and highly recommend!

Yum yum yum!
Came to this restaurant after looking on Unilocal and was very impressed.
It’s part of a hotel off the beaten path with a great moody ambiance.
Service was way quicker than anywhere else we’ve been in Amsterdam despite the restaurant being at capacity (we were in and out in about one hour with 3 courses). The menu is a bit limited but the food is great. We had the duck salad which was excellent, the blackened chicken which wasn’t really black but instead very juicy, and one of their flatbreads with smoked ham and of all things, PEACHES. Everything was phenomenal. Ended the meal with a chocolate lava cake and peanut ice cream which was perfect.
The price was very fair at 47 euros for a beer, starter, two mains, and one dessert. Would absolutely recommend!

Stopped here while in Amsterdam.
A block away from the busy and touristy Dam Square this was a great place to have a meal. I’d highly recommend this to anyone in the area. I had the fried eggs on toast with a cappuccino — both were great!
The only drawback was that there is construction across the street.

Nice spot for lunch right in the center of the city.

Love this space. Super cozy inside with comfy chairs that just invite you to sit down and read a book; lovely spacious terrace outdoors with plenty of tables and options for being in or away from the sun.

It’s the most important thing so it determines the amount of stars — the food was good, but not AMAZING. I had an apple/​chicken/​walnut salad which sounded delicious on paper but was only ok tasting. It lacked some imagination in its preparation. Also I found an apple sticker in my salad, and when I pointed it out the waitress at the end of the meal, she just shrugged and walked away. Not a huge deal as at least it meant the apple was freshly prepared ;-) but still a little unsettling. The rest of my party had the steak and said it was amazing, but again the rest of the plate looked fairly simple to me — just a little bit of fries and veg.
I would come here again though, especially for lunch. My favourite thing is that they offer two kinds of poached eggs on their lunch menu — not enough of this in the Netherlands!

Being from the States, I have pretty high standards for breakfast food and this is the best place I’ve found in Europe.
There was a little bit of everything on the menu. Pancakes, yogurt, eggs… I ordered the Eggs Royale and they were incredible. Probably the best smoked salmon I’ve had in my life. Someone else ordered the smoked salmon scramble (delicious) and someone else ordered one of the yogurts (also delicious)
Next time I would try the American pancakes ;) great place for brunch and great friendly staff!

Hands down the best meal we had in Amsterdam! Typically, I try to stay away from hotel restaurants because they’re usually overpriced and have just so-​so food but I was glad we tried this one.
We decided we were going to tour the infamous Red Light District one evening and asked our concierge at the Hotel Pulitzer for recommendations of places that would be nearby. He suggested The Lobby because of its proximity and said he’d heard good reviews. I looked online and the reviews were mixed but figured we’d try it out for ourselves.
Our concierge made a reservation for the same afternoon and we arrived around 8PM for dinner. Our waitress suggested the flammekueche, which was a tasty flat bread with cheese, onions and bacon. For my entrée, I ordered a buttery fish dish (can’t remember what kind) but it was delicious. Then for dessert I had a decadent chocolate mousse. It’s rare you go to a restaurant these days where every course is delicious. This place is sophisticated yet unpretentious and you’d never know you were just around the corner from the seedy Red Light District.
From the time we were seated to the time we left the service was unbeatable. Love restaurants where everyone is attentive, not just your designated server. Our wine glasses stayed fulled yet we somehow only paid for 2 glasses each, go figure. Highly recommend eating here when you’re in Amsterdam.

Lovely place to gather with a group for brunch. Simple but delicious menu. Cool industrial venue. Great service and someone ordered a poached pear pizza by accident so it was gifted to our table. It was delicious.

Well we arrived quite late without reservation on Sunday for lunch. The «Mr. Moustache» waiter told us to wait maybe half hour and we agreed so he seated us at the bar, but in ten minutes he organized the table. pretty cool!
The experience and the food was really nice and they let us talk for half hour after lunch (3 pm), plus all the waiters and the chefs are all really nice.
I’ll be back for sure!
The Flammkuchen with bacon — onion — gruyère cheese — parsely… fu***n awesome!!!

This place is hidden in Hotel V and the interior is really great — BEST part: the fireplace with a very cozy couch! They even have a world globe with of course a lot of booze in it!!!
First I had the main course:
— Skit steak with braised beef cheek, smoked potato purée which was great!
Thereafter the chocolate mouse was amazing with crunchy coffee crumble and clove ice cream.
The atmosphere was great with pretty packed for a monday evenining and the service was awesome — you don’t need to try to catch the eye of the waiter, because he is almost always there when you need him.
Last but not least: the cocktails!
After dinner drinks were great where I have chosen the Caipirinha which was a bit strong, but good though! And the amazing Gin & Tonic!
ps. totally agree with one of the reviews here — you don’t notice that it is a normal restaurant :)

The Lobby is a restaurant part of Hotel V. Usually I’m not too fond of restaurants in hotels, but this is one is different.
Let me first praise the interior of both restaurant The Lobby and Hotel V. If you are looking for a well designed and a cozy public environment… Go to this place. For a restaurant in Amsterdam, this is as cozy as you can get. It’s warm. Has lot’s of (rustic) wood. Intimate. Book cases. Steel tableware items.
We had lunch at The Lobby. I would give 4 stars for the food. It’s good. No fuss. Hamburger was good, but also not that special. Oysters were fresh. Flammkuchen of the day (with brie, wallnuts and abricots) was also good. It’s rare to have flammkuchen in Amsterdam (I think)… but very well executed.
Together with the friendly staff and the atmosphere as described earlier… I would have to lift the rating up to 5 stars!

Cool, funny personnel, stylish interior and excellent food. Try the flammkuchen (Alsatian pizza). Especially the one with spicy pork comes highly recommend.
