I have this problem, during the day I am a good girl and eat much, but once I am done teaching, I really, really crawe a tea with something nice… but yes, sugar is really bad and fattening and addictive, I know. So what’s a girl to do? Well, this girl dragged her butt to sugarless, a cozy café in Oud West. Very friendly staff, nice interior with a lot of wood, a beautiful outside patio in the back as well as a terrace in the front. They only use organic, fairtrade products and, as the name indicates, no sugar. The soups salads and sandwiches look delicious, but portions are small and definitely not cheap. But I came for the sweets and decided on the brownie. Excellent choice, warm, still moist inside, lots of cocoa flavor and I didn’t miss the sugar at all. They also carry a small selection of teas, herbal and normal, and the tea for two sounds like a good deal, a pot with petit fours for 10 euro each. I will be back with a friend, indulge and feel virtuous and healthy afterwards

Really disapointed by their brunch breakfast… + Nice environment really cozy with a small patio in the back. Fresh and organic ingredients — Choice rather limited: Yogurt with few options(cruesli, muesli, honey, seeds…) They were out of salad and the waitress couldn’t serve chicken because she explained it is still frozen. Conclusion: Do not recommand to go there for breakfast… try lunch or dinner though might be better.

Cozy and cute brunch/lunch place, but pricey for what you get. Had a sandwich with juice and a shared dessert for € 20. Sandwich was very thinly topped, apple juice with acai costs a whopping € 5,50 but came in a very small glass that was finished in two sips and the ‘Paleo Cheesecake’ was made of almond paste topped with lots of berry marmalade and made us wonder why it was called cheesecake at all. Unfortunately service was slow. There was only one other table of two when we came in, but the waitress didn’t seem very capable of handling us in a swiftly manner nor could she answer questions about the menu. After promising she’d ask someone else, she never came back with an answer. When it was time to pay, three more tables had arrived who waited a long time before anyone waited on them. They had to go to the bar to remind the owner to take their order. The owner was busy preparing food and the one waitress wasn’t experienced enough to handle the tables fast and professionally. We ended up walking to the cashier up front in order not having to wait another fifteen minutes for the bill. I love the concept of the café and I’ll come back to give it another shot, but I don’t think I’ll be a regular due to the bad price-quality-service. Even though I understand the prices are higher because their products are organic and more health-conscious, the served food really isn’t that much spectacular nor does the quality equals that of a regular café. A real shame, because the place and concepts has great potential.

Cute and cosy place for lunch or afternoon tea. The soups and quiche are always delicious and the selection of cakes looks amazing(though I haven’t tried them). I wouldn’t recommend this place for breakfast though as it is just the standard Amsterdam offering of a croissant or cruseli and yoghurt.

Sugarless is quite nice. Very nice décor. I find their coffee to be on the pricey side for small-ish cups, however it is organic and I think fairtrade as well. Their soup I had the other day(tomato with pesto) was delicious. They have many nice sweets here and it is a cozy place to have coffee or lunch. If you are in the neighborhood, check it out. Their mission to create a café with the best ingredients from conscious sources is quite proper!
