Struik

A small brown bar on Rozengracht that lost it’s kitchen somewhere near the end of July. They still have a full bar, beer on tap and will allow you to order take away elsewhere and eat it there. The staff is friendly and the inside of the café is cozy.

This place is rad! Very cool vibe the minute you step inside, which can be intimidating if you don’t have a beard or a bag of fresh kale in hand, but very soon you feel right at home smashing G&T’s with the best of them.
The bar is small but spot on, the bartenders know what they’re doing, and they are happy to run a tab. The food is American inspired. Far from gourmet, but good honest grub.
You won’t be disappointed.

I am lovin’ this place! Seriously. It’s small, but not too small, great mood lighting, good music, and friendly workers. Oh yeah, the food was great too!
We will be going back and let me tell you why. First of all, it’s across from Boom Chicago (
) so you can grab dinner before your show. Secondly, if you go for an early dinner, you can have the place pretty much to yourself. Thirdly, the burger is delicious! Get the burger! They seem to have specials each night too which I hear are good, so we’ll go back for that. But I am confident you will like the burgers.
I want to point out that they used to have guest chefs come in and cook, like the Burgers that Kim S. mentioned… which I was actually looking forward to. But just last month they stopped doing that. But it’s all good because they are pretty darn good at cooking their own burger. The fries were pretty good too, but obviously they were the side show.
They also have a well-​stocked bar, if you’re up for it. Like I said, we’ll be back for sure. Probably sooner than later! It just ticks all the boxes and can’t wait to meet up with friends here.

After becoming a bit disillusioned by the touristy cheesefest that is the Centrum, my boyfriend and I were so glad that we stumbled upon Struik on our last evening in Amsterdam.
It’s more of a place to have a few beers rather than eat dinner, but we were hungry. We got the daily special, pasta with Italian sausage, and the caramelized banana waffle. I’ll be brief and say that I almost cried it was so good. The bartender and the cook were both extremely chill and nice.
The atmosphere is fantastic — very laid back but just the right level of noise, and gorgeous decorating complete with fking awesome animal paintings.
All in all, a comfortable and delicious place to hang out. So if you’re sick of all the frat boys running up and down De Wallen high as balls with their faces pressed up to the red light windows, go to this side of town to Struik and have some beers.

This place is too freaking cool. Seriously — I legitimately feel intimidated whenever I go here. And yet I go all the time, because it’s also amazing.
The atmosphere is extremely laid-​back yet with a tinge of painfully hip, since the bar attracts all of the cool hipsters from the Jordaan and Oud-​West, mixed with the typically colorful characters that hang out on the Rozengracht. There’s always an interesting conversation to eavesdrop on or fascinating people to watch.
In terms of the food and drinks, this feels like somebody’s home kitchen, with a teeny bar that serves up a big amount of drinks (the Bloody Marys are legendary and the G&Ts perfect for after-​work drinks). Every day they prepare a different dish, which is written up on the chalkboard outside; it’s always huge and delicious.
All in all a perfect neighborhood hangout and I’ve found myself going out of my way to spend time there instead of a local (to me) bar.

Relaxed place and staff. Unpretentious art on the walls. Mostly hip hop music through the speakers. Decent food. All around nice venue to hang around.

Nice and relaxed neighborhood bar to grab a drink any night of the week in Amsterdam. Hip crowd and friendly barstaff make for a pretty good scene. Good friends in tow make for an enjoyable night out.

This café/​bar/​restaurant is not the kind of café/​restaurant to go get a bite at first sight when you”re walking by :-)…nevertheless was the happening yesterday a nice one, with the special burgernight. Because of the cold weather and snow conditions there was only 1 cook left out of 3 to get the burgers done… it was worth waiting for… it was a great Motthafxxer which was actually enough for big guys too !

Arguably this is Amsterdam’s most famous burger joint. This hip and urban café has the best food in town on Monday nights! Café Struik is located on the corner of Rozengracht west of Amsterdam. The food here is so dam good that it can’t be missed. The open café is a great place to have lunch or dinner on any given day. Although, I would say that my preference eating here is on «Mondays nights» because they have an amazing chef from New York who makes an incredible juicy hamburger and vegan burger for those who have diet restrictions such as myself. In the evenings the bar transforms into a cool bar/​restaurant. What I especially like about this place is the food, music and creativity. For those «Time Optimist», make sure to head out soon, so you can beat the crowd before they eat all the burgers up after 9:00 PM! The crowds that are flocking to other cafes are yet to have descend upon Struik. This is a great spot if you are looking for a place that is laid back, trendy and hip. It’s also a great spot to take out of town friends who are visiting this vibrant city. They will think they landed in one of the best hidden treasures in Amsterdam. I am sure you will be hooked on their burgers after just one bite!
