I got this really tasty salad called Roasted Winter Veggies with rocket, beluga lentils, celeriac, parsnips, sweet potato, butternut squash, hummus and almond shavings. I added chicken and black truffle dressing ok top. Yummi! SLA is a cozy place to eat if you want something light and easy. The atmosphere is great and you get the feeling that you are sitting in a garden while you eat a fresh salad. Also they serve water for free. If you are in Amsterdam you definitely have to try this place!

A quick Unilocal search for salads and I ended up here for lunch. I got the Lebanese meatball salad. I liked how the salad had a flavor to it, including the meat. The salad alone did not have enough veggie toppings for me, So I decided to get a juice with carrots, ginger and turmeric. They were out of ginger and turmeric, chose yellow beetroot, celery and lemon on the lady’s suggestion. It was good. I wouldn’t mind eating here once a week for a change. The falafel salad looked good and seemed like most of them got that. I might try that next time.

Good food and a kot of choices. We had a great lunch with big bowls of salad. It’s just a little bit more expensive than an ordinarily sandwich, but it’s worth it.

Love SLA! The food is healthy & fresh. Plenty of options given to make a salad exactly the way you want it. I often go here to get 3 – 4 salads that I eat throughout the week. It is a little on the expensive side but the salads are large(sometimes I split one up into 2 salads). And they only take PIN which makes it difficult for foreigners(especially Americans) to come here if they don’t have a local card.

Really delicious healthy food with lots of vegetables! Every single thing was delicious. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options, and fish and meat if you want it.

Though I’ve personally never actually visited this location, I couldn’t find a Unilocal page for the Noordermarkt SLA that I frequent and I imagine that the SLA chain(three locations throughout Amsterdam) is consistent. SLA is a great option for someone craving a healthy meal at a reasonable price, and even better for someone on the go. With both ‘set menu’ salads and a make-your-own option, prices range from 8 €-12 €(depending on how many additions you choose). You can be in and out of a SLA in 5 minutes with a takeaway box if you’re looking for something to go. My preferred salad is always 8 €, the base price for a make your own salad. They also offer soups, teas, healthy juices, and coffees. They offer many fresh and ’boutique’ options, like kale, several different types of beans and sprouts, quinoa, roasted mushrooms, pumpkin, fennel, and many other yummy toppings. I’ve never been disappointed in the quality of the ingredients, which makes a huge difference. Also, you get your money’s worth — I can almost never finish one salad and always end up taking 1⁄3 or half of it home for another snack later. They also offer delivery and online ordering. They advertise that they only accept PIN card payment, but if you’re in a tight squeeze and only have cash and ask nicely, they’ll usually accept cash payment too. The atmosphere is quaint, relaxing, and thoughtful. SLA embraces a sort of bohemian environment with fun lights, wooden decorations and mint or cucumber water available for in-house diners.

The quality of the food is ok. The staff is helpful and polite. The only issue I have is that all of the foods –tomatoes, green beans, everything– for the salad are already seasoned with all kinds of things and that this is not mentioned anywhere on the menu. For someone with an allergy to specific herbs, the first time I went there I felt very ill afterwards.

Oh yes, I absolutely love this place! it’s really one the best options to eat healthy but yet tasty in this city :) SLA is a salad bar — you can have your own salad made fresh from the available ingredients, or you can simply opt for one the set-salads(which are delicious already, and probably cheaper). they also have a few soups and pasties. I had the salad with roasted pumpkin, tomatoes, greens, boulghour, and many more deliciousness in it. I like it and I pick it every time I go: p except that time when I wasn’t so hungry and it was cold and I tried a soup. The salad was BIG — like, really, really big. the ingredients were fresh and tasty, the dressing is equally good. I just think it’s a good combination, the ingredients work well together, and the mixing of the still-a-bit-warm roasted pumpkin with the rest is really nice. Also, it’s really big and filling — did I mention that before? The pumpkin soup is really, really big and filling… yes, as well. I didn’t expect that but this isn’t just some veggies velouté, no no no, it’s packed with beans, pieces of veggies and stuff. It comes with a piece of nice bread. It’s nice, but I still prefer my salad! I appreciate the fact that they have several nice teas and not just some tea bag cr*p! :) coffee is alright. There are a few seats at the window downstairs, and a bigger seating area upstairs. It is nice, with one big table and several smaller ones. Bright, nicely decorated with plants and wooden furniture. Quite relaxing. I always find a spot, and they have free WiFi, so it’s also a nice place to come with your laptop and work!

The choices for combining your own fresh salad are almost overwhelming. We had an interesting juice with that. However, given the eco friendly feeling of this place, I do not understand the hefty portions. Almost two salads in one and I felt a bit guilty for not being able to finish it all. Fairly expensive as well.

I was looking for a healthy dinner option loaded with veggies. and went to SLA. It was exactly that! They had fresh and tasty ingredients and I assembled my own salad. Despite the long line out the door, they were moving quite fast. We ate upstairs in the back and it was ok. It’s a bit noisy and those strange lights above the big table make it feel like a greenhouse, but I am craving another healthy balanced salad like that one, so it must have been good :)

Oh my goodness… first of all, this place is beautiful. Seating is overlooking the back garden and it is just calm, clean, and wonderful inside. The veggie/grain/topping selections are awesome:) Lots of vegan options including soup, salad, and dessert :) Even vegan cheesecake!!! Needless to say I ordered like a full day’s worth of food and it was all worth it.

The salads at SLA are large, fresh, filling and delicious. I visited SLA with my best friend while on vacation and was surprised to find such delicious healthy food. It was rare to find large portions of salads in Amsterdam, but this place was great. I recommend SLA to everyone! I had the grilled chicken salad and my friend had the goat cheese salad. Ingredients are local too!

Was skeptical when«salad for dinner» was suggested. Didn’t think it would be enough and didn’t feel like spending the money to leave hungry. Was I ever surprised. I opted for the soup(Tom Ka Kai) and a set salad due to concern with leaving hungry and it proved too much. The salad was filling and the soup was over the top. Both were delicious and well thought out. The salad bar is stocked with enough goodies for even the most indecisive souls but I recommend the set salads for first-timers. The variety will surely get indecisive folk into trouble but will keep me coming back to keep exploring. The prices are on the higher end but reasonable considering their commitment to sourcing quality ingredients( ). The atmosphere is stylish but everyone is approachable.

Ehh. It’s ok, but the concept of a salad bar should never be executed in such a snobby way. It’s not that special, prices are a bit too high, and the whole atmosphere a bit too hipster for me. Venkel(in the neighbourhood) is much better!

S — Super gezonde assortment of grains, veggies, meats and fruits L — Love that you can make your own AND also pick a set salad for the lazy days A — An attitude adjustment is needed for the homegirl who was too lazy to help me make my own salad and basically pawned me off on a set-salad I love making my own salad and those strolls in the park when I’m craving something light, couldn’t be better handled by this place. Some make-your-own-salad shops, have veggies swimming in olive oil because after all, olive oil is so healthy for you that even if it’s dripping down your chin as you eat, it’s healthy. FOUT! Luckily, SLA has really nice veggies and in fact, I took notice of the nice proportion of all items in my bowl! No, I’m no rain man, but I must say it was a really well made salad. The place itself is kind of hipster-cozy and the only thing I wasn’t a fan of was the service. Perhaps I’m not cool or vegan enough to hang out here, but I definitely didn’t feel welcome. Luckily, I’m a ninja and tiny matters like that, don’t compare to things such as saving the world from evil… So 4-stars for a nice place to have a light meal, freshly made bread and some yummy pumpkin hummus and a «no comment» for the service.

Totally fell in love with SLA. Loved the food, the combination of flavors, the flavored water, and the design. I would have loved to be able to buy the seeds of the plants they display inside. The staff is helpful and the salads were fresh, copious, and tasty. I didn’t have any special juice but always picked the 1st sauce available on the menu. I would love to have a SLA in Zurich!

A salad specific fast food restaurant? Yes please! I usually go to SLA when I need a quick break for lunch. Most of the time I order the already thought out«special» salads. It has yet to be a disappointment to me. I can’t even recall which one that I’ve liked best because they have all been just different enough to be special in their own way. If you’re really looking for a certain type of salad you can always just ask them to put together whatever you’re in the mood for. They have just about everything on hand and even a few things which you once normally think to throw in a salad. The prices I think are all right, even though salad fixings are not too expensive usually. It’s just buying all these separate ingredients yourself at home often gets pricey and food goes bad quicker. If they were just a few euros cheaper or I could get a sort of punchcard for frequent visits I would probably visit daily, to save myself some time, money and spoiled food at home.

I like the concept of a salad bar in Amsterdam. SLA menu presents a healthy alternative to eating a well balance lunch. I rather eat healthy food over fast food any day. I love the ambiance in this small shop, it gives you a positive feeling inside. The only reservation I have about this place is that I feel the price does not match with the portion size, but hey more power to eating healthy right. Never the less, I stopped in here for a smoothie because I was craving something healthy and satisfying. I was very content with my smoothie. I made a wise choice for lunch instead of stopping for a fatty ice cream cone. The customer service is pleasant, so no complaints in that area. I am still not sure yet how to measure this business, but when I make a second visit, than I will keep you posted. Quick reminder, please make sure to pay with your Debit card. They only accept pin and no cash.

Finally, a salad bar in Amsterdam. Finalllyyy! Sla is great. It’s a walk-up salad counter with the ingredients beautiful and visible. The staff are fresh out of a stylish magazine, and the style in this place is just gorgeous. So, visually, everything is appealing here. The salads are a bit high in price, but it was expected. They have several menu choices, however my favorite is the build-your-own option, which is great. Also offered here are a selection of juices, which at 4.50euro are delicious, however, steep in price. I docked half-star for their prices and docked another half-star for the slow pace at which… they…do…everything. However, I will say — my salad was worth the wait. I’ll return. Happily. :)

Being the first legit salad bar in Amsterdam, SLA has attracted some serious attention. It seems lately like every food blog is mentioning this new hot spot. So, I was rather surprised to see that Unilocal hadn’t jumped the SLA hype wagon yet. To the rescue I come… Apparently salad bars have been quite the rave in such cities as NY and London, but with the arrival of SLA you can just hop to the Ceintuurbaan and grab a salad to go or have a healthy lunch or dinner upstairs at the well-lit & contemporary indoors patio or the terrace outside. Admittedly, while I do like my greens I often miss my proteins when eating a salad. SLA’s salads are however surprisingly satisfying. How so? Well, first you select your leafs. You can select from e.g. spinach, paksoi and rocket leaves(I went for chard) Some little gem leaves are added to that as a filler. Next, you pick your source of grains, seeds, legumes(couscous, bulgur, quinoa, lentils). Lima beans was it for me. This step is what makes the salads substantial, I reckon. Then you get to choose 3 vegetables. The roasted pumpkin, cauliflower and wild carrot made it to my bowl. Finally, you select what dressing you would like to go with your salad. Now, here is where I screwed up. After having discovered people don’t like being photographed with big ass cameras, I felt kind of awkward. This threw me off a little, so I made a rushed decision picking the lemon, avocado & wasabi dressing. Not very smart. The garlic, mint & ras el hanout dressing or the ginger, rice vinegar & sesame oil dressing would’ve probably been a much better choice. Luckily, I ordered the salad to go and disaster was averted by just omitting the dressing and just adding some argan oil & lemon juice at home. In the end, I was quite chuffed with the end result! The basic salad costs only € 6, a fair deal I think. Carnivores can upgrade by adding chicken, bacon, a cooked egg or smoked salmon. Vegetarians can choose from meat substitutes(€ 2 extra for each). Nuts or cheese toppings are € 1 each. I only have one remark: some grilled tuna, roast beef or duck slices would be a nice addition to the premium menu. They also have a fair selection of fresh juices, so health freaks can lunch here at their heart’s content. No cash by the way, only pin !
