Had a fantastic lunch here! The duck, parmesan, and raspberry sauce sandwich was a perfect combination, and the price(€ 4) definitely hit the spot. Coffee was good too, and the interior looks a lot nicer than any other place in town at this price point. I found the staff and owner to be quite pleasant and friendly, and they looked to have an extensive dinner menu as well. I will definitely be back.

Amsterdam, can you please at least try to have ‘some’ restaurants open on Sunday? We are far from the bible belt, and I give you my holy blessing. #rant Ok, with that out of the way, this restaurant was an obvious choice, not only because it was one of the few open, but it had a red vespa parked beside it. The only way to get more italian then this would be with a live Aria in the background! There is not a lot of choice for food on the menu, but I do get the feeling that they have a wider selection during dinner time. While 4 stars would be too generous for this kind of place, there were 2 things that surprised me: the low prices and the extremely nice staff, who even took ‘custom orders’. I wouldn’t have a full meal here, but definitely drop by for a quick bite :)

Bright and inviting interior. Service for the day we went was excellent, a recently transplanted Italian who was very solicitous. The lunch menu is mostly sandwiches and paninis, but he specially made salads for us. Excellent food, great service.

HBIC detracts from the experience. We emerged from the Artis zoo hungry and tired, so this little place across the street beckoned. The food was really nicely done — we had stuffed prairie hen, sea bass, veal and ravioli. All were excellent and tasty and the fish was not over done. However, the owner detracted from the experience. She was not very encouraging when we asked about whether the child’s ravioli could be upgraded into an adult portion since the vegetarian options were very limited. She kept saying«I don’t know whether he will do this», which was odd since she was the owner. This request was eventually honored, but first she had to torture us. She kept interfering when our waiter was serving us, apparently he was doing things not to her liking but which seemed fine to us. The constant interruptions for corrections were annoying. The waiter was a young Italian so we liked talking with him, but the HBIC kept coming over and cutting these conversations short although the place was nearly empty.(HBIC = head b***h in charge.)
