Restaurant Oud Zuid

Quiet location in the old South, we went for lunch on the Michelin ‘Bib gourmand’ recommendation. Not at all disappointed, food was excellent, and service also.
Would deserve a refresh in the classical deco and lights.
Nice quiet terrace possibility, to check in summer.

We arrived late with only an hour for what should have been a 2-​hour dinner before a concert at the Concertgebouw. We chose the fixed-​price € 35 3-​course Menu, with main dishes of bass and venison and appetizers of scallops/​shrimp/​sauerkraut and wild-​boar ravioli soup, and cake and cheese for desert. The food was absolutely fantastic, each dish as good as any we had ever had of that dish. The boar and venison and their sauces were delicate and rich and the bass seemed perfectly fresh and perfectly cooked. The proprietor accommodated our unfortunately rushed schedule, so we were not late for the concert. Service was excellent. The tables are spaced comfortably apart, so the place is not noisy, even when full, and the restaurant was very elegant without being at all stiff. Two tables had small children, who were happily accommodated, a practice unusual in restaurants of this quality in other cities. I think that this is the perfect place for dinner before a concert, though I would come earlier to enjoy the food and some wine at the leisure it deserves.

Lovely, lovely place with great food and wonderful service. We came upon it on an unusually hot night in June and returned for a farewell meal before returning home to the States. The waiter wanted to be sure we knew the menu had changed since our previous visit and thanked us for coming there, again, on our last night in Amsterdam. Comfortable yet elegant in a non-​fussy way. Looking forward to a return visit.

Really cute and romantic dinner spot (but very down-​to-​earth, unpretentious environment) in an upscale and quiet residential area, recommended by a co-​worker who used to frequent here. Near Concertgebeouw (5 min walk). Did the prix fixe, which was very good and included venison sausage, and braised duck as our entrée selections. Also ordered foie gras. Lovely service. Recommend.

lovely little restaurant with great service. tried a few dishes and liked them all. make sure to try the dutch raw beef sussage.

This restaurant is tucked in a great little neighborhood. Charming little restaurant that serves great food. We had a wonderful lunch. I had a wonderful salad with the freshest greens and vibrant peppers and tomatoes that were so sweet from the vine. The ceviche was fresh and light and the vinaigrette had the right balance of high quality vinegar and oil. The fresh root soup was creamy and filling. This was a great lunch.

Style beats service. Eine holländische Frankreichinterpretation.
Auch wenn das Reiseportal «smart travelling» der SZ anderes verspricht, waren wir von unserem Besuch im Oud Zuid sehr enttäuscht. Immerhin konsequent: Drei verschiedene Kellner servierten einen viel zu kalten 98er Bordeaux in staubigen Weißweingläsern, eine Terrine weniger schmackhaft als heimische Leberwurst und der männliche Gast wurde stets zuerst bedient. Der Höhepunkt war allerdings der Hauptgang: Der «gekochte» Fisch war nicht nur lauwarm, sondern auch roh. Unsere Reklamation wurde nach gewissenhafter Prüfung des versammelten Personals zurückgewiesen mit den Worten: «This is how we cook it. This is hot.»
Ein Spaß für 112,60 EUR, dieses Mal leider ohne Tip.
PS: Ein Tipp für diejenigen, die es doch nicht lassen können: Suchen Sie vor Ihrem Besuch im Oud-​Zuid eine Toilette auf! ;-)

High quality french kitchen. Expensive but suberb.
Chic, formal atmosphere, but very welcoming, friendly and great service. Kind of a living room expercience.

witziges Restaurant unweit der Konzerthalle, dieses Restaurant ist ein echter Geheimtipp, und ist immer voll besetzt, einer der Inplätze momentan in Amsterdam der aber noch garnicht so bekannt ist, eine Speisekarte mit leckerer französischen Küche, z.B. farciertes Rinderfilet einfach lecker, und die Weinkarte läßt keine Wünsche offen, das Ambiente ist einfach witzig und passt zu Amsterdam,
