Wonderful gem! Exceeded my expectations for ramen in Europe. Waaaay better than the«best» ramen place in Paris. The Hakata salt is absolutely delicious; rich porky creamy and unctuous. The soy marinated egg is perfectly done soft and creamy in the yolk and you can taste the smoky soy marinate on the white. The pork buns are decent. Not momofuku standard but pretty darn good. Will definitely come back and try out the other Ramens on their menu.

Yum! I’d been craving ramen and this sure hit the spot! The soup was rich and thick and the pork yummy. I asked for less salt at the recommendation of the waitress and was glad I did as I’m not a big salt fan. I will definitely be back. Also for parents with babies — they have a service lift so we were able to bring our pram downstairs(although baby must be removed from pram first), so bonus points for that! Staff were friendly and attentive.

This Ramen place was next to our hotel, we came on our last night wanting to have a relaxed dinner. The Ramen was excellent and the restaurant vibe was very relaxed. We were happy we stopped by

Have begun my journey into better soups, ramen, etc. Ramen-Ya was very tasty, deep broth, firm noodles and that yummy egg adding some richness on top of the pork broth. mmmm Place: a nice respite from the crowded streets of De Wallen. Clean décor, great staff. Prices escalate quickly so be careful of the adders. I stuck with the basics and will be back.

This place is AMAZING, a hidden gem in the middle of the touristic heart of Amsterdam. Probably one of the best Ramen I’ve ever eaten. Had Yuzu jelly and Kimchi Ramen & it was amazing. Friendly staff, nice and trendy interior design, very fast service and clean restaurant. The food is fresh — all home-made apparently, the broths rich and delicious with authentic Japanese flavors, excellent value for money, a total must. Looking forward to come here again!

Decent ramen. A bit heavy. Several options to choose from all good.

For a ramen shop literally called Ramen, you’d think the ramen would be good, but I’ve got news for you. It isn’t. The ramen is very bad. Sorry, I don’t have any jokes for you today, just bad ramen. But to elaborate: Taste. Do you like Thanksgiving? Have you ever wondered what your Thanksgiving plate would taste like as a smoothie or soup? Tada! Ramen-Ya! But for those of you who have wondered this, let me quell that spark of curiosity, its extremely nauseating. I did not finish my bowl and felt quite sick from the portion I did ingest. At first you’ll think«whoa! this tastes like a bite of turkey/stuffing/gravy/mashpotatoes all at once… in liquid form… cool?!» and then you’ll think«Oh crap, not cool, not cool, ewwwww!» Tada! Ramen-Ya! I will say, however, for those who’ve never had ramen and don’t plan on starting now and also DO want to brave the world of thanksgiving smoothies, get the«ramen» here as the rest of the restaurant isn’t a bad place to hang.

Seriously yummy ramen! We were in the area and I’ve been meaning to try this spot. On a chilly rainy day it was the perfect time. Once downstairs we were warmly greeted and given a table(they seat you). It is a beautiful restaurant and the décor was really thought through. Staff was very friendly and attentive. And the portions are large. So you do pay a little more than you might think, but the size justifies that. My husband and I both got the classic one with the soy sauce based broth and pork. Delicious! And he loved the mint lemonade. We were more than satisfied and look forward to taking guests there!

I’ll make this review easy for y’all — Wasn’t expecting to find a solid ramen in Amsterdam, but was pleasantly surprised. — A star added for their chicken karaage… it’s YUM! — Mint lemonade and lemongrass ice tea was different, but couldn’t stop drinking it. — Definitely better than some ramen spots in the states. — If you happen to be in Amsterdam and craving ramen, go to Ramen-Ya.

What a lovely restaurant! Reminds me of an upscale RA Sushi in the states. The menu is also in English which is a plus. I ordered the kimchi with chicken instead of pork, edamame and green tea. I was craving phở to be honest. When my bowl arrived I thought this would not be enough for me! I mixed up the ingredients and added a lil pizazz I created myself with the provided condiments. And as I began obliterating the soup I was finding myself full and loaded! The soup was very flavorful, the chicken pieces melt away in your mouth. The kimchi, I can’t. Just remembering is making me hungry. It’s definitely a must go spot in Amsterdam! If u don’t I will!

I’ve had ramen in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and New York so I wasn’t sure what to expect in Amsterdam… but this place is great, and one of the best! Décor is beautiful and the spicy kimchi ramen is very tastey and comes with the best soft-boiled egg I’ve ever had. You can also get chicken instead of the pork if you’re into less greasy/fatty meats in your ramen

Wow the hakata special is definitely one of the best ramens i have had. The noodles were cooked perfectly, not too rubbery and not too soft. The broth was a bit thicker than normal, however it was full of flavor and complimented everything within. The chasiu(roasted pork) melted in your mouth and given in a generous portion(the best part!) The egg was also cooked perfectly with a mildly runny yolk and firm egg white. Quick and friendly service. Would definitely visit again.

Authentic ramen restaurant near Dam tram stop and De Bijenkorf department store. It’s located around the corner in the basement down busy Damstraat street. Once you go down the stairs, you will see a spacious restaurant packed with diners. One of my favorite meals during our week long visit to Amsterdam. Highly recommend the fried chicken karaage. The homemade mint lemonade was a bit overpowering at first with the mint flavor but adding extra ice cubes made it perfect. We tried the kimchi ramen and Hakata ramen with salt, and both portions are big. I will try the shoyu or miso next time as I found the salt broth to be a bit too light tasting for me. I love there are green onions and wood ear mushrooms with the ramen. You can add more toppings too. Overall, a worthy choice for a tasty meal at a reasonable price.

Winter is coming, and you know what that means: eating Ramen every freaking time possible(and hiding from White Walkers as well, you know the deal). Ramen-Ya is one of my top five restaurants in Amsterdam, occupying nothing less than the first position. Original hakata lamen with handmade noodles — which makes ALL the difference — dancing in a dense broth full of flavour. My husband(Shiota, read his review a little below) and I were regulars at this amazing little ramen restaurant back in Sao Paulo/BR called Aska, and Ramen-Ya is the closest thing we found here. I always get The Hakata and a mint lemonade(homemade, refreshing, and amazing). When I’m too hungry, I order gyoza or pork buns on the side. Although the location is central, it’s not at all a touristy restaurant. It manages to be a peaceful haven among the packed streets around Dam Square. Lamen should not be this expensive, and yet I still think it’s worth the money you pay(that’s why I’m giving them five stars).

As a proper Japanese-blooded guy, I love ramen. Coming from Brazil(which has the largest Japanese community outside of Japan) and having grown eating homemade oriental cooking, I’m pretty picky about Japanese food. That said, I’m really glad I’ve found Ramen-ya; it was the last missing piece to make me feel at home in Amsterdam. Some have complained about the heavy, creamy broth, but that’s exactly what’s expected from a Hakata-style ramen: a broth with an almost milky texture. And here, Ramen-ya excels: the tonkotsu is a punch of heartwarming flavours, and the tasty homemade noodles pair beautifully with it. Choose the«Hakata Deluxe» with the miso-charred pork, and you’re in for a treat. If you want a little bit of heat, ask for extra kimchi. I’ve ordered only two side dishes so far: the pork buns and the gyoza. They’re both good – not amazingly unforgettable, just plain good. They have some good non-alcoholic drinks as well, props for the Cassis Calpis, and the mandatory homemade mint lemonade(why is it so difficult to find a decent lemonade in other places around Amsterdam?). The staff is really polite and helpful, and the location is an underground gem in the middle of the busy city centre(the entrance is a glass door leading to stairs – don’t be afraid to walk them down: D). A perfect break from all the walking and shopping around Dam Square. The only thing that made me give four stars instead of five is the price. I know Amsterdam is not the cheapest city in Western Europe, but every time I have to pay € 40 for two people(two ramens, one gyoza, two lemonades). In Japan, ramen is supposed to be a cheap, fast meal, but here it seems it has a «gourmet» badge or something. And well, since it’s one of the few good options here, we have to literally«pay the price».

Best place for Japanese ramen in Amsterdam! If it was not open, I have to go to Dusseldorf for such kind of ramen! Btw: don’t miss the fried chicken and homemade soft drink such as ice tea and rosemary lemonade. It is so great that i keep order it everytime! The waitress is so kind and she even brought me the bandjes for hair because she saw I keep puting my hair behind my ear when i was having noodles.

I loved this place! The front consists of a narrow glass display and door, and you can’t see people sitting on table for anything, because first you must go down stairs! ;) Once you go down, it’s another world hidden from the rushed life of the city, and although there’s no view to the outside, the décor is amazing, the seating is comfortable and it’s great for either groups or couples. It’s also very quiet. The staff is very nice and polite. If you pass by the kitchen you can see the Japanese chefs doing their jobs and cooking ramen and other delicious dishes. They have good ramen, with a light delicious flavor. I do wish they put some more veggies though, and a bit more salty. Also, they cook their own broth for the ramen. Don’t forget to try the mint lemonade they make themselves, it’s to-die for! :) and some green tea ice cream! If you are brave enough, they have a ramen dish called mont Fuji which is an extremely big portion of ramen(you can use it to compete with friends)! Ahhaha good luck!

Leider kann ich mich nicht mit Ramen-Ya anfreunden. Sowohl Brühe, Nudeln und Chashu können mich nicht überzeugen und das ist nun mal das Wesentliche an einer Schüssel Ramen.

So pleasantly surprised with Ramen-Ya in Amsterdam! Off the bat, the atmosphere is really welcoming and relaxing. Great for a quick bite or for a group looking for a casual but aesthetically upscale meal after a long day of sightseeing. Located just down the way from Dam Square and easy to find. Service was great, immediately we were seated and greeted by really friendly wait staff. Unlike most traditional Dutch service, they were polite and attentive and always nearby to answer questions or refill waters, etc. The food was perfect for a cold day in Amsterdam. As a fairly avid fan of ramen(and hello, don’t I get kudos simply because I’m Asian?), this is definitely a bowl that doesn’t disappoint. I tried the Sesame with regular salt flavoring and my boyfriend tried the Hakata with both soy sauce and miso. Don’t be afraid to add/order additional toppings! For the Hakata, it definitely is a bowl made well but designed for your own addings as well, as my boyfriend found he could have used some more veggies or meats. For me, the Sesame was just right with a dash of their spicy sauce on the table. Also, try the mint lemonade! It’s homemade and really refreshing. My boyfriend also tried their ‘award winning’ whiskey which was 9euro and as he explained, super smooth. Definitely will be back!

To set things straight this is not a Japanese restaurant. Saying that it doesn’t mean that their ramen is not good. On the contrary its very good. I have to say i love a good ramen with lots and lots of noodles and that what i got(Had though to ask for extra noodles) The staff was very helpful and quick at bringing our order. Also a must try is their range of iced teas which are prepared in the restaurant. A good addition in our neighborhood for sure i will be visiting them again
