Pisa Ijs

I’m going to be the dissenting opinion here. The ice cream is mediocre at best. It reminded me of grocery store ice cream. Sometimes I felt like the ice creams were too sweet, but a lot of times they were just kind of bland or weird. For example I had banana and coconut together in a maxi cone and I could scarcely tell where one ended and one began, because they were the same color and basically the same flavor. The «after eight» mint ice cream vacillated between sweet blandness and sharp mint that reminded me of toothpaste. Poor ice cream, what did they do to you? And they definitely don’t use real vanilla bean here.
The only good things about this place are that the terrace is nice and they have maxi cones that can hold 4 – 7 flavors at a time for about a euro each so you can try a lot of flavors. Too bad they’re not really worth trying.

NO NO NO… So yesterday after dinner I decided to hit up this really nice looking ice cream shop. And to my disappointment and dismay I actually did not enjoy my two scoops. I ordered a pistachio (my favourite flavour ever) and tiramisu. And all I tasted was an intense amount of sweetness.
Having tried most of the gelato shops in the Netherlands, I’ll have to say this was my least favourite. I live between the most awesome ice cream shops and having come all the way to PIJP to try this one I was quite disheartened. Because there’s nothing like a good scoop of ice cream to chase the blues away… But sadly two scoops did not satisfy me the way I had hoped they would. Now giving it the benefit of the doubt I’m just hoping I chose the wrong flavours so I’ve decided to go there again but if it’s still disappointing I will be severely heartbroken. Gorgeous flavors: I had tiramisu and my son got choc. mint chip — both were excellent, and the cones themselves were incredible: lightly crispy, yet didn’t break into a million pieces at the first real bite.
Also a righteous cappucino. RECOMMENDED if in the area of AlbertCuyp.

If you like to taste the real ‘Italian Gelatos’ this is the place to go. Last week I visited Genova (Italy) and compared it to the gelato being sold at this place. In my opinion there was no difference.
The service is good, and there is enough space at the terrace to enjoy the gelato or you can stroll at the Sarphatipark which is closeby.

Did you know that Pisa Ijs, besides making the best Italian gelato, also has really nice cappuccino’s and focaccias and paninis? It’s really worth taking away a nice coffee or sit down for a nice bread with authentic Italian products.
Just close your eyes, smell your coffee, hear the waiters yell in Italian to each other and imagine you are there. In the middle of the hectic Amsterdam Albert Cuyp!

Best gelato we have had in Amsterdam! 7 scoops if your up for it. Great thing about it is they are open until midnight. My favorite flavors were the caramel yoghurt and Caffè, my kids really liked the tiramisu and chocolate box. Don’t let the long lines
deter you, these guys are quick and it’s well worth it!

Really good gelato. In my opinion pretty close to the gelato in Rome. On a warm night I love to wander over and have a nice coffee and ice cream while enjoying the outdoor seating. Many wonderful evenings spent here.

Good gelato, but doesn’t compare to anything offered in Rome. If you’re coming from italy, this will be a huge let down. Compared to gelato in the states though, you still can’t really go wrong with this place. I ordered a double scoop of straciatella and hazelnut, and it was pretty delicious =)

They still have the corner shop in Amsterdam Rai, but now they went BIG in the Pijp with this brand new shop.
It is of course ALL about the ijs … and what a good one!!! Perfect spot for any time of the day… and yes… I would skip my dessert at the restaurant to get here and grab the real thing :)
Summer is coming… and here is the ice cream … cone, cup, bun… you decide… and there are A LOT of available flavors to pick from.
