Unfortunately this place was the worst experience on out trip to amsterdam. Our drinks took about ages to get to us, the(horrible) wine was served in a water glass(!) and the pasta really was bad too. The service was one of the worst I have experienced in a long time.

Like the reviewer just below this one, I too went there for breakfast. It’s close to the central train station so if you don’t want to walk far when you get off the train, it’s a good option. That’s what I did. I was hungry and didn’t want to spend much on breakfast. I got the English breakfast too. It was as described below but for the price, I’m not complaining. My wife had the Italian breakfast which basically looked like some eggs with tomato sauce and cheese on them. Not too appetizing! As for the waitress; she was Spanish and sweet and very helpful and courteous. I got in, ate, paid and got out. The way I like my meals when I’m in a hurry to see and do other things.

Probably the worst experience I ever had in Amsterdam(or in anywhere in the world). The city was great but the this restaurant probably has the worst service I have ever had in my life. I went there with a friend before my train departed. The waitress said the food would be ready in 10 minutes so we ordered spaghetti, then we waited 18 minutes the food was still not here but I had to go catch my train. I asked the waitress to check the kitchen and she just told me I still needed to wait. Seven minutes before my train departed, I had to go. The waitress chased me out yelling«You can’t go!» and threatened to turn me in the police until I told her that I left 13 euros for the spaghetti with my friend. With no «sorry» or whatever, she just went back to the restaurant directly like nothing happened. According to my friend who stayed, the food took 27 minutes to prepare and she gave my pasta to a homeless guy as a Christmas gift as that was Christmas Eve.

Not good enough, compared with London’s Italian food. I didn’t finish the spaghetti.

Decent food at a low price compared to most other places in the area. The mint tea is really good!

I had breakfast here. It’s a relatively cheap option for those on a budget, but the food isn’t great. I had the English breakfast for 4.95 which consisted of two pieces of lightly toasted bread, two sunny-side up eggs, two pieces of bacon doused with oil, and a tiny tiny scoop of beans. Yeah, you get what you pay for. The service was horrible. My server was so disgruntled the whole entire time. I asked him to substitute the beans(I hate beans) with a slice of bacon and he practically ignored me. I had to ask him about three times! They don’t give you any water either, which I guess is typical of places in Amsterdam. When I left, I accidentally left my backpack there so I ran back to get it. The server rolled his eyes at me. I really can’t get over how terrible the service was. Glad I didn’t have to tip the guy. He didn’t deserve it.

Ate here for lunch. It was good, not fantastic, but a relatively cheap option in the area that was not McDonald’s. It’s full of tourists. The sign out front says PASTA4.95! but good luck with that. The pasta menu goes like this: You choose a pasta(5 euro), then you can choose add ons. Red sauce was extra. I added chicken for 2.50 euro and mozarella cheese for another 1.50. I had a Sprite which came in one of those mini glass bottles for 2.80. Then I had another Sprite for another 2.80. So it escalated to 15 euro pretty quickly. Pasta was cooked nice. A little past al dente, but fine. Not a lot of chicken, but I wasn’t expecting to get much either. For lunch, it was plenty of food. My husband ate too,(a ham panini I think?) I’m attaching a pic of my chicken w/mozz and the receipt.

It’s perfect for breakfast if you’re on a hurry. The location is next to Amsterdam Central station so the restaurant is full of tourists. I had an English breakfast for 4.95 euro. Simple, quick and cheap. But don’t expect anything more than that.

I’m not sure if it’s Pasta Bar or Pastabar but my receipt prints PASTABAR. Anyway, among this strip of Damrak where almost every business except a few joints like this one is aimed at tourist, because this is right off the Centraal Station. It’s interesting when you walk by because inside is lively and busy. The outside has these benches like in a park or wooden version of school cafeteria benches, nice ones. On the wooden benches outside are ash trays and coasters. On each glossy wooden table inside are candles and a bottle of James Plagniol huile d’olive(olive oil), it sets the mood for the décor, which is basically paintings, I faced one with an almost nude women covered in pasta, very tastefully done. In the back is the lively kitchen, in which you’ll actually see the busy chefs do their thing along with those upfront, with the waitresses not standing around, they are busy! The pizza is actually pretty good, the crust is very thin in that it is crispy on the ends and soft in the middle, the sauce tangy and sweet. The cheese is smooth, not stringy but right textured. The pies are considerably smaller than your average New York pizzeria, it’s like one of those specialty pies: 8″. The pies are nothing too special but very good. Pizza cost from 5 Euros on their basic limited selection to 8 plus Euros. Now they are called pasta bar, so essentially they serve pasta, it looked very good, a good sized bowl to those I dined with, but I didn’t have :[ suppose someone else who has been here can elaborate on how good it is. They are also open for breakfast too.
