Sharing is caring. You order little plates to share with friends. The place is a good option for group dinners. Just 3 min walking distance from central station makes it an easy access for commuters. Food is quite good– yet I believe a little over expensive. If not the restaurant, definitely try the bar!

Bar review Very very nice. I would go back to try the cocktails, but as many places in Amsterdam, they are a little pricey, so I had a glass of wine which was recommended by the server, and it was very nice. The service was much better than I could have expected. We had a woman at first who was very accommodating to our growing group, and then we move to another area with more seats. The only problem was that those seats fit two(smaller) people or one large person. They were so large that the entire area was quite spread out. I didn’t like that so much. But it did create a sense that that area was our space to mingle in. The atmosphere was very nice as well. A little upscale but not so much that you felt out of place and the greeting mimicked that vibe as well. Very well done. Hope to visit again soon!

What started with a bang has quietly and surely fizzled out. The last time I wrote a review for 5&33 I raved about the décor and the great service. Sadly, these are two aspects of 5&33 which have fallen in terrible disrepair. Gone is the good service and attention to detail. The place feels like just another lounge bar in the Rembrandtplein. On my last trip I ordered a hot chocolate with a side of the fried zucchini. The hot chocolate wasn’t hot enough, was a bit artificial, while the zucchini dropped notches in both quality and presentation. It came with no sauce of any kind. There was no cutlery even. The floor is a sticky mess now. All in all, 5&33 has seriously degraded from being a hip to a flop spot that is no longer presentable.

Very new, modern and fancy look in an old Amsterdam building. Two entrances, hence the name. One is for the bar and restaurant the other side for the hotel. Bar is very nice. It deserve definitely 4 stars. Clean, good ambience. Music a bit loud but cocktails are great. Quite pricey for the mixes, average prices for beer. The restaurant is very nice. Great tastes and good choices. Wines also are good. Service is fine, even if a bit too chatty. Most of the personnel are not Dutch with a high presence of Italians. Food was good, well presented and tasteful. I would say quite an Italian flavor with portions on the average small side. What I do not like much and hence only 3 stars, is the formula of small and big dishes with the intention to share. What is on the big dishes list is not on the small. Kind of confusing and the big dishes, apart from not being too big, are quite expensive. It is kind of an organized mess to take you spending more, and that feeling is not great. Also the service for replacing plates and provide extra spoons or forks to allow«sharing» does not look efficient and you find yourself asking over and over for additional stuff. Tables also are not that large to play the share game. Over all good. I would advice to get there max with 4 people. I think 2 is best table size. Warning for everyone is parking. Either bike or scooter. In this area parking is really not easy and there are a lot of people wandering outside making difficult to use sidewalk.

I wish I can give it more because the food it very good but the service is that bad that it is taking my rating down by 2 stars. The place is designed very cool and hip. There is music and lighting and cool furniture everywhere. Lots of interesting and not cheap cocktails are available in the bar/lounge area and in the restaurant area, a Spanish style tapas restaurant is setup. Do not expect to find Spanish prices here! While not terribly expensive you receive less than you would in Spain while paying much higher prices. But, the quality of the food is quite good. I was really impressed with it. For sure try the octopus, artichoke, and olive dish… amazing! The service on the other hand is very very poor. They totally kept forgetting out table and while the dinner portion of our evening when relatively smoothly, the desert portion was a disaster. Between trying to order, re-order, talk to 3 different waiters, then try to get the bill and pay, we were there for an extra hour and a half. I would go back again because the food is that good but only if I had no other plans for the night because it will probably end up being another three hour ordeal again.

First time I got here, I was overwhelmed, it’s a sexy kinda bar. Bartenders were friendly, cocktails were good. These days it seems they get lazy: bartenders seem tired and not at all friendly, reservations got missing, cocktails were charged twice(and they’re not cheap, and it’s seriously not nice to doubt a faithful customer) and some dishes seemed uninspired if at all available. However if you want to eat something I’d recommend the zucchini fritti, the goatcheese ravioli and the octopus. For cocktails I prefer to go to Vesper, but since 5&33 is close to Central Station I don’t mind hanging around for one cocktail. It’s not that it’s a lousy place with lousy service, the people are just… Uninspired.

Chic, quiet, with an almost Zen-like serenity. Dimmed light and soft listening music on the background. One can sit in a lounge aside the fire or at tables. The staff is well trained, kind and hospitable. The formula is sharing dishes. We enjoyed the Burrata with Mozzarella heritage tomatoes & basil, Sea Bass ravioli and Zucchini fritti, followed by an excellent coffee. It was an enjoyable stay!

As a visiting Elite to Amsterdam, I couldn’t wait to see what foody delights this particular City had to offer. Despite suffering some kind of mystery vomiting bug for most of the trip(I didn’t partake of any of the particular pleasures the Dam had to offer, before you start thinking that); on Saturday night I was just about ready to consider eating again. Now, our trip to 5&33 came as rather a surprise. I was in a group of lovely ladies, two of whom were celebrating big birthdays(Higher than 21, lower than 50 is all your getting) and for our last night, we wanted to do something really special. One of our number had received a text from her other half in the day explaining their neighbor in London owned a restaurant in Amsterdam. Filled with intrigue, we rang up to try and get a table. This was a bit of a rooky error as the restaurant was completely fully booked(a disappointment, but a sign of a good eatery). This is where her«Connections» came in; after a short but sweet conversation with her neighbor a confirmation call had been received advising us of our booking for 8:30pm. It was with a sense of intrigue we pulled up to a trendy looking venue in a smart looking district just before our allotted time. We knew it was a good choice when we stepped inside. Being greeted high design and pounding music, this was definitely the place for us. After the kind and courteous staff had confirmed our booking, all of our coats were taken and we were taken to our table. Holy Moly! What a place! Enough space for around 150 people to eat, a chilled out lounge area with gorgeous real fire pits, an open kitchen(so you can see your food being prepared) and shining chrome and marble glinting at every turn; you would have to be very jaded not to be impressed. Once seated, a senior member of wait staff bought us our complimentary bottle of Prosecco(not a standard part of the service, but a gift due to a member of our posse’s connections) and we were presented with the menu. Our wonderful waitress(she really was tip top throughout the whole experience) explained that for a standard meal diners would choose up to 3 plates eat. Each dish is larger than Tapas but not large enough on it’s own. It was armed with this information that we tentatively discussed our choices. The atmosphere of the venue is casual and relaxed; with people in jeans nibbling whatever is bought out and on the table at the time. The food is cooked fresh and bought out in stages(so you can enjoy a great conversation whilst picking at the offerings on display). We had a vegetarian in our number, but this wasn’t at all a problem as the menu catered for all tastes(including my bad stomach which would only manage a cheeseburger). Once the important decisions had been made and everyone had a drink in hand, we sat back and relaxed. We were seating near the«art curtain», which is a live interactive piece installation which seemed to change every 5 minutes to a different artwork. I was transfixed by this the entire meal(much to the detriment to our conversation). Once the food started coming, the evening really hotted up. From the Mushroom salad to the trout ravioli; I had it on good authority that everything was exquisite. My hamburger was cooked to perfection(pink in the middle) and served with skin-on chunky chips. Delish! Once the fizz has run out, a secondary bottle of wine was ordered and conversation and food flowed for a few hours. It’s worth noting that as well as the restaurant, bar, lounge and gallery area; there is a «secret» indoor smoking area which is designed as exquisitely to the rest of the venue with bright orange arm chairs and comfy sofas. The toilets are also pretty funky(as a top tip — the doors are HEAVY) and extremely clean. Once we had finished our mains(and were totally stuffed), our waitress tried to persuade us to try the Tiramisu. One of my favorites, but I couldn’t risk having anything so creamy :(. Even though we protested, she bought us one out(on the house), just to try. Again, I have it on good authority that it was the BEST Tiramisu’s that the ladies had tasted. Without alcohol, our bill for around 10 small plates and a hamburger and fries came to 120 Euros. Not too bad at all! But this wasn’t the end of the experience… next… the bar! I’ll keep this brief, but the bar is just as fantastic as the restaurant. With an extensive and inventive cocktail menu(with drinks being priced from 9 — 12 Euros), it was a winner from the get go. Add in a fantastic DJAND a live Saxophonist playing along to club hits(I kid you not!), and it was the perfect end to our trip. Our visit at 5&33 was an experience I am not likely to forget in a hurry.

Last night I fell completely in love with 5&33! We had dinner there and already when I saw the entrance of the restaurant, I knew it was going to be good. When they brought us to our table I got a glance of the rest of the place; the lounge and bar, and then the dining area. It was beautiful, warm, fancy and modern all at once. I was just perfect. The fire next to our table made it all extra cozy and the seats were soft leather and sat so comfortable. Then the food. At 5&33 you come for a shared dinner with friends or your partner. It is a fun way to try many different dishes. We sure tried a lot, I think we tasted most of the things on the menu haha. I loved the food, it was all tasty and nice but there were a few things I particularly liked; the lamb chops, the ox cheeks, the burrata(very soft mozzarella like cheese), and the yellowtail. But I also loved the peppers and the mushroom salad! Everything is quite nice! The portions are quite large. I would recommend 2 — 3 dishes a person. The wines we drank with the food were also really nice, the wine list is quite large. For dessert we tried a few different things; tiramisu, crème caramel(which was a bit to much of egg taste) and chocolate delice. The chocolate was the best. With the the desserts a few of us had cocktails. There are classic ones and house ones, and of course we tried the house cocktails(more special!). We order a gin daisy(a fresh and fruity cocktail), a harlequin(strong and manly cocktail, with different kinds of liquor and also orange) and a 5&33 version of a mojito(forgot the name!). The cocktails were al delicious and with a good amount of booze. The lovely food, drinks, interior, good company, reasonable prices(we paid 55 each including tip for food, 2 glasses wine, water and a 11 euro cocktail) and very friendly, helpful(unlike most places in this city) staff made this night into a memorable one and made me really fell in love with 5&33. Between the main and dessert we even strolled around through the lounge area and bar area and the place is just fab. I’m so glad I tried this place quickly after their opening because now I know my favorite spot in the part of Amsterdam!
