Rude staff, the worst treatment we ever had In Amsterdam. We came for dessert after a big dinner, so, 4 of us wanted to share one pancake plate. The waiter basically told us to leave, as he wasnt going to serve one dish to 4 people. He said we cant expect to seat In Leidseplein and eat so little. Avoid at any cost! ZEROSTARS

Pros: Large choice of pancakes and food. Perfect location. Good for value. Conts: Food was too salty. Food was good, nothing exceptional though.

There’s nothing to not like about this place! I was in a brunchy mood and dropped in for some pancakes, and was delighted to find that there was a miniture dessert version with ice cream. I ordered a Dutch pea soup for the first time, and quite enjoyed the taste overall. It was also perfect for the slightly chilly fall weather.

bad service and very expensive. Worst pancake i had ever. Not repeat the order and just giving us what they have cooked. And we waited for 10 mins to be served when we sit down

This place gets ZERO stars. We popped in for breakfast one morning very hungry and we were not impressed. It is a huge turn off when the menu is suggesting that you provide a tip. Once you ask for the check, again, the print on the receipt is highly suggesting you tip. F that, by law, service charge is included in the price of the meal(google it). I ordered a club sandwich(with bacon and egg) with chips. Idk why I thought it would be French fries but it came out with potato chips like from a stale Ruffles bag. Wtf?! The sandwich was dry as hell and this was about $ 10 usd. My girl ordered the scrambled eggs for $ 9 usd & it was just that, a plate with scrambled eggs & nothing else. $ 9 for eggs, wow. Oh yeah, we asked for water & we get charged another $ 10 for the tall Spa Reine water that tastes like tap water. They bring it opened so who knows if it’s just sink water in there. Total? Over 30 € for a dry sandwich with ruffles, a plate of eggs & water. Then they want a tip. This is all served by a young girl in jeans & a tshirt… the pricing reflects more of a fancier establishment. #walletRape Please pass on this spot.

Unfriendly waitstaff and poor quality food. Never welcomed us, thanked us, or smiled. They acted like we were a burden to serve. The entire plate seemed as if it were microwaved and the cheese and meats were pre-sliced.the kind that you buy at the deli, or in little packages at the grocery store. Do not dine here!

Food was okay. Service was extremely bad. I mean the worst I’ve ever had. The waiter we had was so rude to us, that I’m writing this Unilocal review,(my first and only) just to warn others to avoid this place at all costs. The server had the nerve to approach us after we paid the exact amount listed in the receipt, demanding 6.50 for a tip. He repeatedly exclaimed, «service is not included on this receipt!» We reluctantly gave him the money and left, very annoyed. I’ve never had a waiter demand a tip like that, especially after giving us such a terrible experience.

This place gets five stars for actually being OPEN in the morning. We are here twice for breakfast and the pancakes are not American style but they have real maple syrup from Vermont and fresh squeezed orange juice. The waitress was nice and she remembered us from the day before. We walked around for an hour looking for a place to have breakfast and nothing was open.

Avoid this tourist trap at all cost! This place looks like it has good traditional food from the outside signs but the food is bad and the service is worse! We had a really unfriendly waiter that treated us like we were bothering him and looked angry the whole time we were there. He ruined our experience and I think he is also mentioned in other customers Unilocal reviews. The burgers are bad and the fries are frozen(not typical fries that the Amsterdam locals eat). The mixed salad had so much dressing and onions that I could not eat more than one bite(had red onions and scallions). The hot chocolate with whipped cream was not that great. The pancakes were ok. At the end of the day, I would rate this place 0 stars if I could. We should have stayed away when we saw the place was almost empty. You’ve been warned, don’t waste your time or money patronizing this crappy restaurant with HORRIBLESERVICE!

We went here for lunch one day and it was ok. We were hungry and it was close and easy. The next day we decided to try a dessert pancake on the way to our hotel and ended up with a rather large piece of plastic in our pancake.

This was one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to and that’s saying a lot. First of all, the prices are at least 50% higher than you expect for such quality. Second, the waiter there is rude, sexist, crude, and discourteous. When I asked if they served crepes, the waiter looked annoyed that I asked the question. Since the menu as well as the store name all said pancake, you would have thought I committed a capital crime for asking. In any case, they serve crepes, not pancakes. So be forewarned lest you ask the waiter and he spits in your food.

Unterirdisch.

On aurait dû passer notre chemin.

Bad. Overpriced and the food isn’t very good. I would normally give 2 stars but I found a hair in my food so I think 1 will be fine… Very disappointed.

Think IHOP. Seriously, that’s what it is. We were cold and hungry as hell and my friend reallllly wanted a pancake(crêpe) so we popped in because honestly, a pancake is a pancake. However, this place was pretty overpriced for being basically a chain. The pancake selection was huge as were the pancakes. Oddly enough, once we ordered I got the cherry pancake and my friend got a pizza pancake. She really liked her ‘pizza pancake’, I thought it was gross. My traditional pancake with cherries was delicious. I’d hit a mom and pop little place while you’re in town rather than here.

Food was sloppily prepared, overdone, low quality ingredients, which makes it overpriced. Service is curt. Pizza pancakes made with canned mushrooms. If you already at here like me, let this be a lesson in checking Unilocal reviews before ordering anything.

Ok, we did some research in terms of which place would be good choice to have breakfast in Amsterdam. We read the reviews and we decided, because it was on our way to go there anyways. The portions are big, but besides that, it wasn’t great. The coffee was bad, the bacon wasn’t bacon, the rest tasted boring. trust me, there are better places in Amsterdam to get good breakfast. try the bagel place next door…

Pretty unfriendly people as already mentioned here. Our english breakfasts were passable but a side of ketchup was 1.50 extra. Coffee was pretty weak as well. The entire restaurant also had a rather unpleasant smell to it, like old beer and rotting wood. All in all there are much better places to go for a good breakfast here.

THEYDON’T TAKECREDITCARDS — and the place looks dirty. There is a better place around the corner at the Satellite Sports Café. Better looking and nicer staff.

My partner fancied pancakes for dinner, and we stumbled across Pancake Corner in the busy Leidseplein district of Amsterdam and sat down for a meal. The service was very quick not long after we sat down outside we were presented with menus. Our drink order was taken quickly and our food order a sensible time afterwards. It certainly wasn’t service with a smile, though. The staff were efficient but surly. I was a little disappointed by the vegetarian selection and ended up with just a mixed salad, which had quite a reasonable selection of fresh salad vegetables, though I was not fond of the sweet dressing. My partner’s pancake disappointed her with its perfunctory inclusion of tinned mushrooms over fresh. It seems like neither a place to sit and relax, or a place to get great food, but it was adequate(and quite cheap).

I hate to admit it but American pancakes will have to take a backseat after I devoured one of these puppies. The staff was really cool in suggesting a great dish for me to try. I went in asking for American pancake, instead I got one Dutch pancake, with bananas, whipped cream, caramel and ice cream… FORBREAKFAST. Now back in the states and five pounds later, I can’t wait to go back. Check the pic I snapped before I went straight greedy if you’re wondering what the blend looks like.

A bit of a tourist trap. But hey, that is what I am right? In any case, I think I have some issues with service in Europe. I guess service is just viewed differently in Europe(and Africa) as the staff really isn’t expecting a tip, so service is robotic and functional at best. I think the waiter and I were just not speaking the language. I was interested in having something made for me on request and basically he said to me that I just had to pick something on the menu. I am not someone that likes to conform to menus and I like to usually do my own thing, but I guess when you are in socialist Europe, you have to adjust. Don’t try to get creative, just order something on the menu. Period. End of story. Pancakes or crepes(or whatever they were) weren’t exceptionally memorable. Oh well, sometimes, you win some, and sometimes you just get suckered into being a tourist. Sigh. Lesson well learned.
