Ambiance: cool. Food: Pretty good.(Though, this is coming from a vegetarian’s perspective. Service: Typical Dutch I’d go again if I wanted to take someone out for a night in a dark, velvety kind of place.

I love sushi. It’s all about the sushi. It was fresh, nicely presented, ample and tasty. Everything else was extra. The service was good. The prices are tourist oriented meaning high. The restaurant is huge by any standards, consisting of a large drinking, eating area below with a large staircase to the upstairs to another large dining area. It’s all awash in a sea of red and black. I was here with a large group of people on a fixed menu. Regardless, the food was deliciously satisfying. It was finished by a very nice dessert consisting of a chocolate cheesecake amidst a raspberry sauce, very nice. I’d love to go back and try other things on their menu. All in all I was pleasantly pleased with the food and the service.

This place feels like a giant dinner club from the 1920s. Though the décor is super modern and black and red, it’s sooooooooo expansive. The bartenders were super nice and fun. Our waiter was very eager to keep things in order for our big party. I think the food was pretty bad. The giant buddha inside was ironic in light of the name. :) Don’t half step. Come here if you want get a shot and leave.

Upon arriving it was an empty entrance wit no host. It was a bit awkward finding a table for dinner so we ate in the lounge. Service was friendly but slow at times. Drinks are delicious and not as expensive as Momo, but that is a low bar to reach. Drinks took a while to be served even though it was empty. Sushi was good but not cheap.

Large, dark, eastern styled cocktail bar centrally located on Leidseplein. A hit with expats. The sheer size of the place is impressive — Amsterdam watering holes are generally a lot smaller — so the place immediately has an un-Amsterdam feel to it. Service was ok, until we asked for the bill. Then it became decidedly lacklustre.

Excellent place to go for sushi in Amsterdam. The ambience in here is intoxicating and provocative. Even if you dont go to eat — it’s a must for drinks! Reminds me alot of the Buddha Bar in NYC but more clandestine. All of the food & the sushi rolls were delicious but the Fire Dragon Lady Roll sticks in my mind forever!!!

Upon my visit to Amsterdam(from London) I was really hoping to find the kind of sushi joint(no pun intended, get it, Amsterdam? joint… I digress) that reminded me of the fabulous trendy and quality sushi places I used to go to all of the time in NYC and California. When I saw the menu and interior of Little Buddha I at first was excited, then noticed a roll was double in price if you wanted spicy sauce added to it. Seriously? The interior is huge and there are tons of trendy people there(really they must have at least 100 tables and they were all filled with people dressed to impress on a Saturday night). My excitement in the atmosphere and food I was going to receive however, went down when we asked our waitress about a few rolls that we didn’t know what was in them(and they didn’t list ingredients) and was greeted with a «people eat sushi should know what’s in them, I’ll have to find my colleague who can tell you» which translated into«I don’t even bother to know the menu of the place employed and will blame the customer when they ask me something I don’t know» WOW, trust me I am a HUGE sushi fan and know it better than most. We finally were able to put in our order after an explanation that those mysterious rolls were shrimp rolls covered with salmon and almost triple in price to just a plain old shrimp tempura roll. Needless to say I passed on that and stuck to standard sushi, sashimi and salmon/tuna rolls and my partner had a cooked salmon dish. We ordered a bottle of Chardonnay which was listed over 20 euros and 2 tap waters, the wine we received promptly and was a «Lazy Croc» Chardonnay which you can order for $ 6USD but fair enough, there is usually crazy mark up for wine in a restaurant anyway. Waited until after our food came to get our tap water and clearly the waitress was non too happy about providing it. My sushi was run of the mill(ha another pun, get it, Holland? wind-mills? apologies apologies), I’m not going to say it was bad, but it definitely wasn’t as fresh tasting as it could be nor was it the quality I’d expect for it’s price point. My partner enjoyed his cooked salmon dish, but I tried it and really just think he was trying to look on the brightside of this expirement. We were still hungry after we finished what we had ordered and I could have ordered more but definitely didn’t feel like the quality of food or service was really worth ringing up our tab so we asked for our check and shortly left. For the price and quality, I think which can say it all here folks is that we went had a few drinks somewhere else and then later in the evening, we stopped at McDonald’s and had dinner #2. And I never choose McDonald’s over any other possible food choice ever, especially sushi. IF you want to have some drinks on the town and look all glam this may be your spot, but if you want quality food and service for the price, I’d recommend trying another place!

Laungy, cool, nice music, good looking waiters and waitresses! Nice to stop by for a drink. Spacious and lofty. Good for a romantic apre dinner. I never ate at the restaurant so this review is only about the drinking :)
