Great little café. The BLTA is amazing and fruit smoothies made with real fruit. It’s cozy and the service is better than most European cafes. I didn’t know what to expect when I saw the english menus outside — but neither the food or feel is touristy.

it was the best place to have breakfast in Amsterdam by far. the coffee was amazing as well as the hot chocolate. the food was great too. we had their french toast and eggs, and both tasted great. the only problem you could have is the place, since it is one of the smaller cafes. we went there during the week and it was ok. we didn’t have to wait for our table or anything. the waiter was really nice. check it out, if you want some great breakfast.

A hot breakfast can be hard to find in Europe and cold croissants just get pretty depressing after awhile. That‘s probably why I almost did a jig of happiness after finding this place. The espresso is delicious, the OJ is fresh squeezed and the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon is fresh and delectable. We sat outside but the café was very clean and adorably decorated. They serve breakfast until 1100 so hurry down and get yourself a satisfying breakfast!

On our third visit to Amsterdam, we stayed for about a week on a houseboat nearby. Letting was an oasis for us– simple menu, delicious food. The Jordaan neighborhood is a haven. Quiet, relaxing, real. Letting has all the same qualities. They’ve only got about 6 options on their lunch menu– 2 – 3 sandwiches, an omelet, a soup and a salad. BUT each one looked fantastic. We tried their soup and two open faced sandwiches. Ingredients like fresh salami, arugula, mozzarella complimented fresh, soft bread. Highly recommend making a stop at Letting for a cappuccino or for lunch. Remember: they only take cash AND they are closed on Tuesdays.

Stopped here for lunch one day and ordered an Italian chicken sandwich and one of their homemade lemonades. The sandwich was fresh and fine, but the lemonade was a bit flat and sour for my liking. Overall, the experience was just ok, nothing I’ll rush back to yet, but nothing I would stay away from either. Sorry to be so vague, but I think that this place is smack-dab in the middle of my dining experiences in Amsterdam. Also, the vibe of the staff AND other diners was just … anxious, in a way. Can’t explain it, and it probably isn’t a permanent issue, but this just wasn’t the coziest lunch I’ve ever had either. Enjoy! ;)

This is one of our favorite places. They even catered a ‘High Tea’ at our home once for a large crowd. Had breakfast here, lunch and afternoon tea. All mouth watering good! Not the usual sandwiches on their menu card for lunch. I love the one with Humus. But for breakfast you should try the French toast or pancakes. Or better keep coming back here and try all!

This was my second visit to this place. Had three friends in town and we were looking for a breakfast café. We got to there after 12, so could only order lunch. They offer a nice selection of sandwiches and omelettes(not common in Dutch cafes). Best part of this place is its coziness, especially the tables at the window facing Prinsenstraat. You could easily sit there for hours and people watch. Since the café is quite small and busy on the weekends, it’s not ideal for a large group.

Best American style breakfast in Amsterdam. Crispy bacon, scrambled eggs, toast, coffee, fresh-squeezed OJ. Cozy on the inside especially on a rainy fall day, sublime on the outside, sitting on the narrow Prinsenstraat watching the world go by. I haven’t ordered anything else here, just breakfast. Love.

What a wonderful café. Found this via advice in some magazine. Can’t remember which one it was but the review was interesting enough to make me go out and find this place while in Amsterdam. Had a great breakfast. We had the pancakes with bacon and the champagne breakfast without champagne. So good on all counts. Obviously the tourists have found this place. While we were there, I’d say 5 of the 7 or 8 tables were Americans. Still, service was wonderful and the food was great. Coffee was also really well made and we greatly enjoyed coming here. Definitely check it out if you’re a «breakfast person». Kind of small so come early to get seating. I don’t think they take reservations.
