Vennington Sandwichshop

The Mr & I were looking for a nearby place to grab a takeaway latte before we hit the museum & as we left our hotel, we saw a lovely Illy sign in front of Vennington
Overall impression was that they offer a decent latte for takeaway!
We had asked for 3 shots but were told they could only do 2 or 4… I’ve heard this from coffee places in San Francisco as well so no big deal but just to note
We chose 4 shots — needless to say it was really strong but nothing a little sugar couldn’t fix
Loved how it was perfectly hot & was just enough to bring us to the museum
The people working there remembered us from the morning before (we grabbed coffee there twice) & we definitely felt appreciated
Thanks for getting us on our way in the morning when coffee is so important! This is a huge A-​OK for us!

After bending our bodies over and backwards in a small yoga studio, my friend and I were looking for something nearby that was not trendy/​hipster/​hidden sparkling dessert gem/​up and coming… you get the point. Just since nice warm broodjes! We stumbled on this place in the middle of Jordaan that looked unassuming as ever. We sat down browsing through the cheaply laminated plastic menu of lacklustre broodjes, sammies and what not.
End result, we looked for someplace on the down low and ended up getting a down blow to our taste buds. Do not assume that because you toast bread doesn’t mean I can’t tell that it was previously stale. You know the stale bread that is crusty centimeter by centimeter no far how far you bite into it? Luckily, most of my gums are still intact. Imagine that with old cheese, reminding me of cheap American sliced cheese, end questionable egg. My friend got scrambled egg that triggered me to reminisce over my adolescent years working at Burger King and making eggs from yellow liquid that came in an unlabeled white box. I guess one could say it’s the progressive industrialized version of the egg. Call me old-​fashioned, by I like my eggs from a chicken…
The service was nice, but with all the other places in the area, even trendy schmendy places in the hood, I CANNOT think of a reason to come here. So don’t.

Tiny sandwich shop in Jordaan. Offer lots of breakfast options, like bagel sandwiches. Service was quick.

Centrally situated, good quality produce but way too rushy to encourage us back. We’d rather enjoy Letting across the road.
I chose this café for a break as the tourists seemed to be non-​existent (always a good sign). Our server was pushy — trying to get an order out of us before we’d even had a chance to consider the menu. We asked for some more time and he was back within seconds! Same sort of attitude when asking if we wanted to order anything more and bringing the bill.
Tasty food — if a little oily — but not a place to enjoy your koffie verkeerd in peace.
