This place was good, but not sure about 5 stars. Maybe I went with high expectations(I am firm believer that expectations will make or break your experience, with food, movies, holidays, etc). Got the nakji bokum(spicy octopus), jja jangmyun(black bean noodles) and bulgogi. Nakji bokum was good(not amazing, but tasty), jja jangmyun was bland but ok and bulgogi was just average. Kimchi was also just ok(needs 1 or 2 more days of fermenting). In simple terms, would I eat here again? Yes. Would I order the same food? Nakji(octopus) — Yes. jja jangmyunn — No. Bulgogi — Maybe(but will probably go for the kalbi instead). Service was good and owners were nice and sociable. This is also a place where korean business men frequent. What I LOVED was that they give you a melon bar at the end! transported me back to my childhood. If you have never had a melon bar, it is a creamy popsicle(ijs) that tastes like honeydew melon. **I am a Korean from California. I grew up eating korean food daily; have tried tons of asian/korean fusion as well *California — home of the korean tacos, at least I think so :) I’m not sure I would call this place asian fusion…

This place was by far the best Korean food I had across London, France and Holland. I’ve been to Korean restaurants in NYC and Seoul so I know a good Korean food when I see one. This was a classic homemade style taste with no artificial flavor. I was so happy to have found this place. Also the staffs were really nice as well as the owner. I’d strongly recommend this place. Go for the spice pork bbq.

This is our favorite Korean restaurant in Amsterdam! We always take the same things(which I highly recommend btw): Yuk-He, cold julienned raw beef with a raw egg yolk. I believe it is seasoned with pear juice, sesame oil and soysauce; Soondubu Jigae, hot spicy tofu stew/soup; and Dolsot Bibimbap, rice dish with beef and vegetables in a stone pot. Occasionally we take the korean bbq beef or pork too… Prepare to go home with a full satisfied belly!

It is hard to find decent Asian food in the Netherlands and Korean food is one of the most difficult to find. Thankfully, there is Hwa Won! It is really out of the way, but the Korean food here is delicious and as close as you’re going to get here. Food: 5⁄5 All their dishes are delicious! Our favorites are the bulgogi(marinated beef), bimbimbap(rice bowl), samgyeopsal,(fatty pork) and seafood pancakes. Sadly, the meat is cooked in the kitchen and not at your table but other than that, it is really tasty. They also give you banchan, which are little appetizer snacks and their kimchi is tasty. It is a great place to go if you’re craving good Korean food. Service: 5⁄5 The staff is very nice and they have an English menu if you ask for it. They also give you unlimited refills on your tea. Atmosphere: 5⁄5 The owner and staff in this restaurant are Korean and most of the clientele are also Korean which means that it is pretty good. The owner also tends to walk around and chat with the customers, and he likes to personally say goodbye when you leave, often saying«see you tomorrow». He is really cute! Also, on one occassion he opened up a bottle of soju and walked around giving shots to customers. Value: 4⁄5 Dinner is usually around 30 euros/person, so it is a reasonable price(no alcoholic drinks).

Very good Beef Bul-Ko-Gi. Perhaps a bit overpriced(main course at about 20EUR) but absolute fresh and delicious. Friendly and attentive Service. Anyone but me where Asians in there, bit strange feeling but probably the best sign for authentic cuisine. ;-)
