Hugo’s you win stars all around. Great service, food, drinks, hospitality, décor.
There is so much pride from the staff in what they are serving you. The drinks are a work of art.
We ordered some oysters and asked them to help recommend as my husband hates super briny oysters. No problem, they knew exactly what they were talking about. We ordered some bitterballen as well and they put a twist on it with lobster.
The food overall was delicious, modern and still European. The décor is great with outside seating.
I just can’t recommend this place enough!

Great cocktails and delicious, sophisticated food. The best bit for me though is the international level service. Too rare in Amsterdam, this team absolutely make the experience.

The food was pretty good and the staff was friendly, but not a great spot for a vegetarian. We ordered the tartare of the day (since they had run out of the other option). Once we left, my partner summed it up nicely: «we just paid $ 70 for fancy cole slaw.»
So, very fancy and conceptual. No complaints other than value of the food.

I’m in love with Hugo. Don’t tell him that, i like to admire from a «distance» (well inside of course, what would be the point?)
I was informed a couple of days before that due to personal circumstances they could only offer a set menu. Which wasn’t a problem for us as we haven’t been there before, what you don’t miss etc…
I didn’t listen to what the nice girl was explaining, but the starter whatever it was, was amazing. My distraction might have been noticed as the delicious main and desert were placed on the table without any explanation whatsoever. Friendly goodlooking staff however, A for effort!
Great cocktails as well, the Jimi Hendricks, the Marilyn Monroe and the Wiske were lovely. We’d go back in a heart beat, before it gets too populair and staff gets too cocky.

Went there with the hubs and my mom one evening for dinner when she was visiting. Was really surprised with the place. Friendly and helpful staff, and really creative menu. You have a choice of their al la cart menu or the chef’s tasting menu, which you can also order al la cart from, as well as a nice selection of interesting sides (the special vegetable was for spaghetti squash which was really thinly sliced squash so it was in the form of think noodles). Their cocktails are creative. I had the halibut which was fantastic. The chef is obviously creative and innovative. Also the prices are decent with entrees around € 15.

excellent food — everything we ordered was a surprise– and tasted great– variety of flavors and pretty plating– yet standards — like fries — were great!
the fish was THE freshest I have had in forever and cooked to perfection.
Worth the trip over to this great little modern bistro.

Solid modern cuisine. They have great variety signature cocktails. You can almost pair your three course meal with their cocktails. The bar area offer a more casual drinking and snacking.
Try the espresso martini. It’s the bomb.
