This is a small chain of bicycle shops. Now, unlike most of the other businesses in Amsterdam that caters to bicycles, meaning renting to tourist, this isn’t a rental bicycle shop. You purchase one. The price range start around 300euros and go up from there. The shop also helps you maintain your bicycle. They also sell parts. Like if you need a replacement seat for your bicycle, lock or a helmet, they have this hanging in their store. This is –one of– the reasons I am in Amsterdam. The thing about most of the bicycles in Amsterdam is that they are cruiser bicycles. They aren’t like the majority of the ones in the United States. Yes, the Unites States has cruiser bicycles but the road bicycle design is more apparent. They are meant for cruising around and they are shaped that way. Most of the bicycles in the store are shaped as such, even the flashier ones that are priciest. I saw a larger Hema selling a couple of bicycle for also around 300euros but Het Zwarte Fietsenplan has way more selections to choose from. I don’t think Lance Armstrong would shop here but these are the typical bicycles around Amsterdam. The staff, well one gentleman that answered some of my question was very helpful. He answered my questions even though I didn’t buy anything. But in the future, if I ever needed anything, I know who and where I can count on for help.
